I recently purchased a 1978 CB750K. It has not run for some time, so I intend to take off the carbs, disassemble them and clean them in an ultrasonic cleaner.

My question is this. After rebuilding and reinstalling, do I need the long carburetor adjusting tool that has the coaxial long shank screwdriver to adjust them.

Thanks in advance for your response and any tricks you may have.

I am able to reach them , just . It isnt easy and you have to swap hands on different carbs due to the overflow hoses and even which side is which . I also had to make a small screw driver that I could hold under there and be able to turn , but it was doable . I even painted one side white so I could count the turns easier . When I rebuilt my 77 F2 the jetting didnt work and it took me quite a bit of time to get the mixture right . I have an 836 with the std airbox and an open delkevic 4 into 1 pipe and ended up using the std pilot air jet ( 35 ) and two and a quarter turns out on the fuel screw . Trouble is once it gets hot , you dont want to put your hand in there , so I was setting , testing and then waiting for it to cool . Just watch when you do your carb clean . Make sure you use air or carb cleaner to blow out the air/fuel passageways afterwards as ultrasound can leave residue in them . I always bench test the accel pump/squirters before fitting , just in case . Have fun :D
