I need to disassemble my carbs and see pulling choke plate screws can be an issue. Can I just clean real well and avoid this step?

Not exactly sure. Mine came out easily. I had to make sure it kept the felt washer for each one, but i didn't have any issues. I also used a JIS screwdriver.

On my '78 K carbs the choke plate screws had spayed ends. I was able to remove them although I had to run a tap through a couple of the shaft holes as the threads were a bit boogered up. I bought new screws from my local hardware store and used some blue Loctite when I installed them.

So they have to come out I guess. They say they are spayed on the threads is that true?
So, I got rebuild kits and they come with plastic floats. There is no adjustment— do I not have to worry about that because they are now consistent??

Depends on how well the float was made to OEM spec.
After you put the floats in, fill the carbs with fuel while they on a bench. See if the floats stop the fuel when the bowls are full.
Then take a clear hose that can be tightly secured to the drain line at the bottom of the carb, and bend out upwards towards the top of the carbs. Now open the bowl drain screw. The fuel will fill the clear tube as the bowl empties. Keep adding fuel to the carb until the float stops the fuel. The height of the fuel in the clear tube is the height of the fuel in the bowl. The measurement in MM from the fuel line to the top of the carb bowl is your fuel height. Look in the manual to see if that is in spec.

Help!!! I can’t get carbs back on bike!! I bought cheap carb boots and realized they are all the same size- trying to install with original boots— guessing they are not pliable enough-put grease on and a little wd40. Still can’t install
