Carb overflow tubes

Hi all,
Had fuel pouring out of #4 carb.
Culprit identified-split overflow tube.

Is the general fix solder/JBweld(tank weld)-or are people replacing the tubes... from what I can see they would need to be drilled out?

Have never done it myself, but have always heard that soldering is the way to go.

Solder does seen the better fix i agree...but if the split is in the base of the tube you might not get a good fix (solder wont hold onto the carb float bowl)...
