Carb bowl gasket

Hi all,
Installing the gasket on 82 750c. Is there a trick to making sure it stays in the groove when mating it back to carb body? The groove is clean but the pinch points don’t seem to hold it very well.

Put three or four fingers in the gasket and stretch it until it lays in the right position'
