Got myself a spare bike, a cb750F - 81.
Had some ideas of turning her into a Bobber.
Any ideas out there?

Over here in Sweden once the bike has had the last roadworthy ever, you're not allowed to do any changes to the frame or the brakes, other then that one can do whatever comes to mind. So I love to see some fantastic ideas that anyone might have.....

It does look like I talk to dead ears here.
I just give it a miss, no one seem to be interested.
Enjoy yourselves in this self admires club....

I agree, there is hardly any conversation here. All of the threads are problem related with very few answers. No threads about successful mods and stuff like that. Honestly, I usually only agree with less than half of the answers to peoples questions about their problems. Most of the answers to carburetor and charging problems are ridiculous. I don't ask for help here but would really like to see some conversations of interest.

You're dead right mate. I thought it was good subject to discuss since it would be a lot of fun to turn a standard cb750 into something amazing.

"A picture paints a thousand words" Since (un)building a "Bobber" is similar to a striptease, it certainly would help if you post photos while you denude a Classic, Welcome, BTW, If I remember correctly, my second post included a complaint that no members had answered my first post. In the interim time, there is tons of reading content and tech support to digest. Not a ton of cheerleaders, also keep in mind that this is riding season, perhaps they are busy riding.

Yes, pictures would get you more comments. I don't have any ideas on what to do now, but I do have ideas on what not to do. I have three DOHC's and they all run and operate superbly. Do not change the charging system. Do not change anything about the carbs or airbox. Do change the ignition coils to the next generation of Honda coils. The MP08 Honda coils have a great reputation and the two generations of Honda coils before them and most aftermarket coils have very bad reputations. Some brands that have worked very well for me for charging rotors and stators are Ricks and Caltric. For reg/rec replacement I use Fiat regulators and ebay rectifiers. Same with the aftermarket regulators, most of them are junk. Adjust your valves per the position of the camshafts as stated in the Honda shop manuals. Just measuring the valve clearance with the lobes pointing up is not accurate enough, Honda did not grind those camshafts that way.

That's the bike in question, an - 81 F model.
She's a bictch to start, reckon the starter slips on the flywheel but all of a sudden she starts and runs well even on idle when she warms up. The generator doesn't seem to charge enough, did change the brushes but hasn't made much difference. Reckon I need to pull her down and go through a few things. Also she seems a bit high for me ( I'm 6'2" ) can't get my feet fully on the ground only my toes, so I need to lower her a couple of inches and probably get a different seat.
Anyway that's the bike I'm looking to do a makeover to a bobber.

Thats going to be a fun bike. Can’t say I love a bobber but I did cafe my 1979 CB750.
