Working on a '72 CB and having a frustrating time with the blinkers.

I found that the switch in the hand control wasn't connecting and the spring was damaged so I replaced the hand controls entirely.

After that when I switch the blinkers on then I'd get the light to stay on but not flash but only with the headlights on, and the flasher indicator on the dash would stay on steadily. All 4 lights worked, just no blinking.

Then I replaced the flasher relay to an electronic unit. With the new unit te relay would actuate continuously with the headlight off regardless of of the position of the blinker switch. When I switch it right or left the blinkers worked as they should, but no light in the indicator. If I turned the headlight on then nothing from any of the lights other than the headlight.

Get a wiring diagram and trace all the wires. It sounds like you have a wire or wires connected wrong or in the wrong order.

Pull everything in the headlight and start again, but don't connect the two brown/blue wires together. They are for a flasher buzzer. Leave them disconnected if you don't have a buzzer.
Also, green is earth and black is switched positive.
Don't know if this helps.

I ended up going this route. Not sure what was wrong but I pulled everything and got started going through reconnecting everything. After that it worked fine.
