Bearings questions

Hi all, I have a couple bearing questions. I just installed my new steering stem bearings and I cant seem to get them seated all the way. I have the motion pro steering stem bearing driver and I'm whacking it as hard as possible but it won't go that final mm. What should I do? Should I freeze it again? I'm guessing the bearing will shrink along with the stem so it seems to be pointless. Are there other tricks or am I missing something?

I also just installed the rear wheel bearings but the inner race seems to be stuck on both sides. Is it possible I drove them too far and they're jammed against the spacer? I don't see how that's possible but that's the only possibility I can think of. Everything seems to be square. If I look down the spacer the inner races are all lined up so everything looks good from that respect. I should note I froze the bearings before installing and I heated up the wheel a lot. By the time I drove them in the inner race was super hot from the heat transfer. Could the temperature change have anything to do with it? Thanks for the input!

Man, being we are not there it's kinda hard to tell what you got going on there.

The rear wheel will crush the bearings together to pinch the spacer anyway, or something is wrong. You don't want them loose in there at all. Or the OD turns instead of ID and then eats the wheel hub up.

You're checking that incorrectly, you assemble parts and then you check by turning BOTH bearings and spacer at same time as one unit.

Thanks AMC. I took the retainer back off and backed out the bearing on that side slightly. It seems to have loosened everything up so the opposite bearing now moves freely, the spacer moves, and the bearing that I backed out moves but it feels a lumpy. Does this mean the balls pressed indentations into the race? Do I need to replace it now?
