Hello again, I was having charging issues on my K4. In the beginning my bike would not hold a charge and I replaced bad stator wiring and a better quality R&R. After this work, things were going great. Battery holding a charge, volt reading are 13.5 at 1500 rpm. But when getting up to 3500 to 4000 rpm's volt meter reading is up to 15.6 to 15.7. I have checked connection on new R/R and look fine. First is this dangerously high for my electrical system and any advice on where to check for cause of this high voltage. Thanks (side comment I did replace new right side switch on handle bars in addition to above mentioned work)

15Vs+ is definitely too high, please explain "better quality R&R" I have never had any problems with OEM units on SOHCs. These bikes have a mechanical adjustable regulator stock on them. Any new aftermarket replacement will be solid state. Rectifier is a little delicate & should be handled carefully. If wire contacts are clean, you should be good to go.

I now have to combination regulator /rectifier as one unit. Bike did not come with original rectifier and regulator as separate parts. As far as "better quality R/R", the first one I installed had to be replaced due to it not working properly. I will go over all connections again, maybe I missed something. Thanks

I know some chopper builds went this way, but I stayed with OEM electrics on my builds. Less trouble in my opinion. You gotta be really careful on wiring on all-in-one units.

I'm not sure how the all-in-one works with the exciter coil the SOHC uses. The DOHC got rid of it. It may not like the all-in-one solid-state unit. What brand do you have? I'll research it & find out if it's supposed to work one the old SOHC engines.

apparently, there are units made for these engines you just have to make sure you get the right one. I find about 5 different ones to choose from out there.
