Hello all,
I finally got my first cb750 and was noticing the front brakes aren't half as good as I hoped for. I was wondering if this is a problem I can fix or something I need to accept when purchasing a 46 y/o machine.

Well its hard to know without feeling them but they are not spectacular, nothing like a modern bike.

If you have a firm lever(ruling out air in the lines) it could be that your pads are glazed. This has happened to me before. You can take some sand paper on a flat hard block and sand the shiny glaze off them. Make sure you thoroughly clean them with brakleen first, and after. I believe I usually use 180 or 220 grit. Doing this and thoroughly cleaning(and maybe scuffing up) the disc has drastically improved braking on a few of my bikes over the years.
