I purchased a K2 750 early this summer.
Thought I might share what I am trying out.

Short story: multiple failed condensers/ pitted points. Multiple ‘limp home’ on two cylinders.
Fix attempt : Relocated the condensers.

Long story:
Note -I interchange the words cap/capacitor/condenser.. all the same part..

For The ‘new’ set of condensers that came on the bike, one failed- replaced it, next day the other one failed. ..replaced it.. a short ride later one of those failed. I noticed that they are very hot- well they ARE essentially bolted to the engine case. ..but they are hot, and known to be cheap.. back in the day I did not have this sort of problem .Also. I measure their values each time ,when good and after failure - yup, def bad caps. Of course failed caps lead to pitted points. ..

Right now I have 100 miles of riding with multiple heat cycles and no failure…so far. This is longer than any of the previous rides.. since I bought the bike in July, 2026! It feels like progress.

What I did different,
1-replace the pitted/filed points to start fresh again
2- removed the condensers from under the points cover and zip tie mounted them behind the left side cover. Far from engine heat.

They are ‘electrically’ in the same place.

They are bolted together with a ‘ground’ wire sandwiched between them. I used 18 AWG stranded wire that I salvaged from an old PC power cord. This ground wire is directly connected to the battery (-) terminal, ensuring a good ground path from the condenser cases.

I used approx two feet of the same wire and extended each lead that normally connects to the points. These wires are run under the tank. One each is inserted into the female side of yellow and the blue bullet connectors from the coil and main harness. Then reconnected to the main harness. These blue and yellow wires are the wires that head down to the points. One condenser to the ‘blue’ circuit, the other to the ‘yellow’ circuit.

So now the condensers are in the same circuit position, just closer to the coils, and further from engine heat and vibration.

Time will tell if this will ‘protect and save’ these, less than original quality, capacitors or not.

I’ll try to remember to update status as time goes by, or a failure occurs.
