I’ve wanted to rescue an older motorcycle for several years now. I had to sell my Shadow last year. So, I,be been itching to get another one. I found this little beaut last week. He was asking $2000. Not running. Has title. The Facebook ad said it was an ‘82 and the guy selling it said he was just selling it for a friend and didn’t know anything about it. I gave it a kick and it turned a stroke. I heard some compression, so I don’t think the motor is scrap. The guy said it was a ‘78, which seems to be more likely to me but I’m no expert on classic Honda’s. He was also selling a ‘72 that looked a little worse.

So, I asked if he’d take $1000, and he said $1300 and he’d throw in a spare motor. Deal. So, I’m supposed to bring a trailer and cash over in a couple weeks and adopt this beast.

Anyways, I’m looking for advice or info that anybody is willing to share. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the frame or engine numbers to verify the exact model. If anyone is sure they know, I’m all ears. Aside from that, this is going to be my third bike rebuild but I’ve never done a total rebuild including a motor. I’m kinda wondering where to start, since there’s so much to do. Any advice is appreciated.

If no advice, that’s cool too. Just glad to be part of the CB750 tribe.

I'm looking at it on my phone so the pictures are kinda small, but from what I can see it is not an '82 but it could be a '78 K model. Try and make him a deal to get the '72 while you are at it. Make sure you get documents (titles) to go with them.

Ditto on the title. Here in florida if it doesn't have a title, the process to get one is inhibitory. And if you can't title it, you can't register it, and if you can't register it, you can't ride it. That title is really important. I would concentrate on the carbs first, then the tank. When it runs, change the oil. Go from there.
