I got my Anorak on again.
Basically I want to know how much gas (fuel/air mixture) the Keihin carbs fitted to the CB750 will flow ?
I'm interested in the earlier carbs as fitted from 1971 to 1976, not the later offerings.
They are 28mm choke size AFAIK, which is quite big for a four cylinder 750 around that time.
Kawasaki's mighty Z1 started on 28mm VM Mikunis, but later dropped down to 26mm.
Ditto for the Suzuki GS1000, started on 28's, then dropped to 26mm.
So do the Honda's Keihins compare well with the VM Mikuni in terms of flow and performance ?
I'm thinking of maybe fitting a big bore kit for some extra grunt, but I'd prefer to keep the stock carbs if at all possible

A popular option on big bore kits back in the day was to bore out the carbs. The stock ones will work on big bore but does limit the power. They will be undersized if you want to make serious power but run fine for a street bike.

I'm just thinking about building something standard looking but with a bit of added sparkle.
Maybe a 836 big bore and a F2 cam if that will work OK

It would work fine with that small of an engine. I would look at a different cam and cylinder head porting. Look at cyclexchange.net
