So I’m a first time bike owner. I found a ‘83 CB750 on marketplace, got it for $325. Reason being so low, the guy got a new bike(Harley) & he had originally lost the keys back in 2020. I got it in the beginning of March, so she sat for a good while. I got new keys made, did an oil change, changed the spark plugs, emptied out old stale gas & cleaned gas tank. Once all of that was completed, she started right up & I was able to ride her. Got up to 60 mph in 4th gear. But she would idle a little rough & didn’t ride the best. So me being me, wanting to save money & wanting to learn to do shit myself, I cleaned & rebuilt the carbs. It’s 4 into 4 & they are the keihin VB42 carburetors. I followed everything step by step & am pretty sure I did everything correctly. I got her all out back together & back onto the bike & she wouldn’t start. I came onto this side & read some posts & learned I need to manually put fuel into the fuel bowls, did that & she started right up but was up at 4k rpms and she started to spew white smoke, not from exhaust but either carbs or engine… I shut her off and waited a couple minutes & then she didn’t want to start again. I then bypassed the vacuum valve thingy lol, saw a lot of people saying to do that n just remember to shut off petcock, which I was already used to doing. So I connect fuel hose from petcock straight to the little pipe that connects 1 & 2 carbs. I then capped off the two vacuum points, the one on carb 2 and the middle plastic nipple between 2 & 3. Turned petcock to on position, waited a couple minutes and tried to start her again but to no avail. Please, if anybody knows anything that I can do to get her started & get back to riding without having to spend a pretty penny, it would be highly appreciated!!! Thanks!

You have a fuel delivery problem to the carbs. Check your petcock to make sure gas pours out like it is supposed to.
If you wait some, will the bowls fill again so you can start the bike? Or does it not want to start at all?
You may have some crap in the carb bowls clogging the pilot jet.
Can you start the bike if you open the throttle all the way?

Only time it started was when I manually put gas in the fuel bowls. After did this, she started but was idling at 4k rpms and then started spewing white smoke from the engine not the exhaust. I shut her off then tried to start her again but she didn’t want to start again. I then bypassed the vacuum valve thing, thinking that would work & still didn’t want to start. I definitely know it’s a fuel problem, just don’t know what’s causing the issue!
