25yr barn find bike starts but????

ok so 1973 cb750e1080628 motor starts up right away but sounds like not running on all cylinders. no knocks no odd noises just isn't running correct. i remember my old bike 76 super sport used to sound like this if the point gap was wrong and the timing off little..no power band its so damn frustrating i just was wondering if I'm missing something anyone have any suggestions new plugs new points don't know what else to do. any help would be appreciated.

compression test?, valve clearances?, fuel to all cylinders? spark at all 4 plugs? Start with bare basics then continue diagnosis.
