Hey Everyone!

I am writing because I have just received my engine build from the wonderful Ken at Cycle Ex.

I’m very amateur, and I don’t know what some of this stuff is quite frankly. Please educate me or let me know what you think of the build!

Awesome engine, Im jealous. Top of the line everything, its a high Hp motor. Ask whatever questions you have about what you are unsure of.

Mr. Dirtdigger!

I’m a lucky man. I attempted rebuilding these a few times in my teens. However, 19 year old me ran out of money quickly. A decade later, after one degree, part of the way through my master’s, and by the blessing of my beautiful wife, I’ve got a green light for damned near anything. (Yes she loves me.)

I figured I’d get the motor out of the way first. I didn’t trust myself to turn a wrench like some of you experienced builders. Bought the entire bike from Ken and he will be sending the rest of the bits on another pallet.

I’d love to see this on a dyno. What do you reckon it will push Hp-wise?

Like I said, I’m very amateur. Eyes and ears open. My cup is empty. Please fill it with knowledge and wisdom. 🙌🏼

P.S. I do have a video at Ken’s shop if you’d like to hear it running.

I would guess it will probably be in the 100hp range? It take a ton of work to make power with these motors but I think you will probably be close to that . Ken does good work and knows what he is doing, I know he would know the hp of the motor.

100hp would be incredible. We will have to see once we get it all together. I'll likely have many more questions in the next year for building. Father-in-law is a lot more "handy" than I am (only according to my wife LOL). I'm excited to get into the project! I appreciate you taking the time. So cool to hear from legends like you!

Very Respectfully,

I.T. Krüg

To I.T. Krug,
You sir are one very lucky man! Back in the 80's a friend and I built a 915 Wiseco SOHC engine, with a rigid frame and a 10 inch slick it ran 9.80 consistently. We never dyno'd it but an educated guess from knowledgeable bike drag racers we figured it was putting out about a 120 horses. Good luck with your build. Hang on tight because that mothers gonna run!

Flightnurse , I`m the same , did a rebuild at 19 on my original F2 , but just didnt have the confidence to do it now on my new one ( to me ) . So I sent it to someone in the land of oz to have it done and all new valvetrain , 836 wiseco , gaskets , bearings and rubber things . Took me 3 yrs of stripping it down to nut and bolt and rebuilding it , gotta say I loved every moment . I had no real problems apart from rust as it had sat for almost 30 yrs somewhere in St. Louis . Are you going to restore it or restomod ? And as you have an F3 engine , is it in an F3 frame or a K ?

Thank you Sir!

I am excited. Been a long time coming here between a few deployments, new stations, and my son being born. My wife is a saint.

Here is an update on the entire build. We are about a month out I'd say from finishing. Had to source a NOS tank. The red one had pinholes in the bottom. We used that tank to fabricate the tailpiece so it will always be a part of the bike. The wheels, brakes, and other spinning parts, as well as the front forks and wiring bits, were sourced from Cognito Moto. The Oil Cooler is from Ripple Rock Racers in Canada. Being a big bore (970cc), I needed it to stay cool. The seat is from Counter Balance Cycles. Obviously the engine parts/build list is above, very excited for that. The exhaust is a race replica from Moto GP Werks out of California.

Hello Sir! It is indeed an F3 frame. I know people say that you can't possibly find a matching frame and engine, but I have the matching frame, engine, and title. Like I said...I had to search for it, and when I found it, I jumped on it immediately.

Here is a picture of it about 70% complete. About another month now.
