I have recently purchased, they’re very cheap 1970 Honda 750. There is no serial number on the frame. The guy that I purchased it from said that a year after he got it the frame was all bent from an accident and was replaced by Honda and they did not put a serial number on it. I do have the engine serial number though. I am not sure if this would be enough to eventually put the bike on the road, the engine serial number is CB750E-1018723 Can I confirm that this motor was built in 1970 as well. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated. Thanks Rob

Yes engine is a 1970. Not sure how things are done in Canada. Here I would just apply for a title for a home built motorcycle. I dont see how Honda could not have put a serial number on the bike as that is what is used to title and license the motorcycle.

Ok thanks alot.As far as parts i will be needing things like front fork tubes and various other things. Do you know when parts are different for mine. Are all parts the same from 69-75.thanks rob.

"Back in the Day", Honda did ship unnumbered frames to dealers for replacement. The dealer was supposed to stamp the original number into the replacement frame and destroy the old neck. That procedure changed in the late 70's and a special "frame order form" was created. If the bike came with a title, the original frame number should appear there and will likely be CB750-10XXXX (not the same number as engine).

Anyway, many, many parts changed between '70 and '75 - some mid-year and the parts would be "up to (after) serial # 10XXXX". The forks' internals, specifically, changed mid-year '70 and again mid year '71 and again '73

:shrug:I've not seen the actual serial number in that location. I have a K1 that has "E5" stamped on that brace. The full serial number begins "CB750-" so, again, IDK. I suppose it's conceivable that - assuming a replacement frame - that the dealer was too lazy to access the steering neck and stamped it there :umm::shrug:
