GSXR front end swap - steering stop solution

Hi all, In case this is going to be useful for anybody I wanted to post my fairly low cost solution to replacing the steering stops on a GSXR 750, 2007 front end swap on a 1979 CB750 DOHC. Having already bought and fitted the Cognito Moto stem the main problem was that the CB and GSXR steering...

    Floats on a ‘79

Hi all, I’ve just rebuilt my carbs and I noticed that my 79 has brown plastic floats (and not adjustable) in the carbs. The manual and CSMNL etc suggest they should have black floats that are adjustable. My problem is that carb 1 and 2 are leaking fuel so I’m looking to adjust the floats which...

    Carb vent question

Hi, quick question. Where does the carb vent hose go to on a 79 CB 750? I’m running a standard air box and carbs. I have it facing upwards but not connected to anything. I know it’s the centre rubber tube that connects to the T in the centre of the carb bank. Is it just an open vent?

    CDI question

Hi all, I’m doing a full rewire of my 1979 CB750 and I have a question about the CDI unit. Firstly, I only seem to have one CDI unit (see photo). Does this seem right? I understood there are supposed to be two (that’s what the wiring diagram looks like). Secondly, if there is only one then in...

    New coils - too loose?

Hi, I’ve replaced my original coils as they were badly split. I’m having difficulty in tightening the new ones fully. Is this going to be an issue? Do I need to readjust the wiring to get it to seat fully? Picture below to show the gap. Thanks in advance (my first build so a lot to learn).

    Side stand/kick stand

Hi all, I’m rebuilding my 79 CB750 and I’ve just put the engine back in the frame and tested the side stand. It seems to me to stand too straight rather than leaning at an angle. Anyone else have experience of this? Can anyone show me a picture of the side stand down to make sure I put it...

    Valve seat cutting

Hi all, I was hoping to do some light cutting (at home) of the valve seats on my 1979 head.
