I have a frame... I pulled a 73 CB engine out a while back. I now am looking for a custom frame for a replacement. This one I have is in pretty good shape. No rust... the kickstand mount might be a little tweaked but all in all it's in good shape. I can provide pics if you like.
I ordered it online.... the dealer has yamabond, which I hear is the same thing. I would rather go with a product others have used here. I only want to put this engine back in once. I'm in no big hurry so a couple days ... no biggie. I did look at prematex product today but saw it is not...
I noticed when I split my cases that there were a few spots that had some type of liquid gasket on only some of the surfaces to seal the 2 case halves. About ready to seal this baby up! Is it a good idea to seal up the whole case when re-assembly? Or any of it for that matter? Seems like the...
This was quite a while back! 836 Bore.. John Harman frame. Front wheel hub converted to rear wheel with disc brake. Machined sprocket and new rotor mount to adapt to hub. Many parts I custom built (handlebars, foot pegs, rear backrest and more. In the 70's there was a company that had a...
Anyone know if it's possible to use the shorter rubber carb intake boots over the slightly longer ones? Will the boots still align with the head flanges?
Thanks..
I have built customs and restored bikes since 1975.... If the controls have all the features (starter button, turn signals, kill, headlight controls) I wouldn't think it would matter. You might have to do a little wiring but simple stuff. I am going to use aftermarket for generic use on this...
I need just 1 main jet holder! unable to find 1 at a reasonable price. Everyone thinks they are made of gold! Don't need a jet.. just the holder
Thanks
I have it! Will watch and thanks for the link. Haven't buttoned up the cases quite yet but have ran through the gears and it seems to shift to all 5 and smoothly!!
So this is what I have.. doesn't match the illustration but it's just about the only way this thing will go together. Notice the little groove in the disc on the end... the indentation is not facing the way the illustration shows
Was wondering if anyone has an exploded view or assy view of the shift mech. for a 73 ish CB750? Below is the assy I am asking about. I have all the parts but were in a box when i purchased this bike. The manual I have is terrible as far as detailed views or explanations. Thanks!!!
UPDATE...
I am doing a partial rebuild on a 1973 CB750 engine. I was wondering if anyone knows the tolerances for crankshaft to bearings. I just picked up some plastigage and cannot find the tolerances for this engine. Thanks!
Your list sounds exactly like what I am doing right now! Just bought a '73 CB750 for $200 that has been in a barn for over 40 years. The lower case was cracked right in front of the sprocket... of course! So I needed to get a set of engine cases. Bought slightly oversized pistons and the...
It would probably cost me just about as much to get it welded as it would to get a new set of cases. At least a different set of cases will will give me a better seal around that area, that's for sure!
When do the changes made to the 69, 70, 71 72 and 73 CB750 take place.... are those early engines compatible to say 74 or 75? Does someone have a list of when changes occured... much like the Corvette's C1, C2 etc.....? Or where I might find a list like that?
I think I need to be more...
I have a complete engine. Getting the barrels bored as we speak. Have new slightly oversize pistons. Ordered a new gearset for trans that had some rust due to sitting in water for so long. Ordered a total carb rebuild kit. Valve work next. All new seals. This is not my 1st rebuild. My 1st...
