Hi all looking at replacing the breather hoses on a 1979K that are starting to show some signs of perishing-what are people generally using-Im thinking just some oil catch can tubing unless others have a better suggestion.
(Im told most "heater hose" isnt oil resistant.).
Are people generally...
Any sign of clutch slip? Any brake dragging-you can feel the front disc for heat after a long ride and spin the back wheel after things heat up to temp (again after a ride)
Could think about cam chain and guides...a bit of a weak point...theres a race spec mod you can easily do with the engine open.
Starter clutches a weakpoint in the 750/900 dohc...theres a R6 modification you can do..
If interested in the cam chain mod, let me know and ill send you a pdf...
Try Silvers USA.
Remember tho oil seals and gaskets that are NOS may have degraded if not stored well and if they haven't been produced for 20 or more years.....
The "Z" tends to be the first/second in the model line....similar to the 1979 CX500(z).
Tho' CMSNL lists the USA 1979CB750K as 1979CB750K(Z)....

Touched on already-carb balance worth checking.
So (are you confident) its a "hanging idle or a binding issue??....does it return to normal idle without touching anything (eg. without touching the throttle)
Update-FWIW in other forums (e.g. even V4 Hondas with the issue) seem to indicate "cold" exacerbates the starter clutch issue....(thinking is springs shrink etc)..need to go in have a look....
Running MA2 oil, so thar shouldnt be a factor.
I seem to have occasional starter clutch noise at attempted start.."slip and the scary clack"...only when cold.
I would think if it was the rollers/ springs this would be constant (hot or cold) or am I missing something??
1979 Dohc K model
I know of the R6 mod, which might look at down the...

You might use a IR gun to determine differences between pots.....
To get a accurate temp reading youll need to adjust the gun's emissivity setting on the gun using general available tables...
Hi Gents, can someone remind me if the airbox drain at the bottom of the airbox main housing should have a plug or be free to drain......not the "storage tank"(under the battery) drain(plugged).....
Nice collections...FWIW I remember seeing photos of a (Aust. police) DOHC with spoke wheels and single disc up front; pictured alongside the more common (Aust. police) SOHC in service.
(If memory serves either Vic or NSW).
Dunno if large numbers got to the road or it was an "evaluation".
