    Animal House

Long before John Belushi popularized rogue students behaving in unusual ways in the movie ‘Animal House’, me and my buds on the 16th floor of a downtown Pittsburgh hotel were warming up for leading roles in our own movie back in 1967. ’67 was pivotal for me – my first year of college. I...

    CB900

I have been unable to find a reasonably priced 750 unfortunately, but have seen several nicely restored CB900's offered for reasonable prices. I know these bikes are far more complex mechanically than the good old 750, but might be willing to pick one up if I could get some info about how...

cylinder base gasket - gasket sealant?

I've been using the diamond files on gun actions for years with no issues. They leave an exceptionally flat and smooth surface, which is what we want for a crisp trigger job.

    Shill bidding on Ebay

I've been looking for a decent condition 750 for about two months now. Nothing near me physically. I have bid on at least a dozen bikes on Ebay, but have become quite angry at the shill bidding that appears on nearly every single auction. Invariably there will be one or two brand new Ebay...

cylinder base gasket - gasket sealant?

You might want to try diamond files. It's one of the tools the Chinese haven't been able to screw up yet. They are quite small and easy to work into tight areas, and even the coarser ones remove material very slowly. I use them for gunsmithing, and couldn't live without them now. I'll mark the...

    I appreciate the sanity here

While I have been working on cars and bikes since the 60's, a seminal event in the late 70's changed me forever. Needed to have a distributor changed out on my wife's 69 Camaro. Easy job. I pick the car up and drive 30 miles down the road and see smoke coming from under the hood. I pop the hood...

    I appreciate the sanity here

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone here for presenting themselves with integrity. I have several interests (pro photographer, gunsmith) and other forums are full of hotheads that cannot have a civil discussion. This is a breath of fresh air and I am grateful.

    The way I see it

That is distressing. Surface heat treating is actually harder to perform that a full heat treat. The Germans used to do it on their WWII Mauser actions and you had to be very careful when grinding the front of the action parallel to the barrel not to remove more than about 0.004 or you would...

    The way I see it

I appreciate you taking the time to respond. My problem with many of the later model Hondas is that they are made for a different generation's tastes. I am not a cafe rider. I have been looking at the CB1100EX, love it, but the pegs are set back to far for me. I would stick with a twin if I...

    The way I see it

To make a long story even longer, I think I'm in the market for another Honda, but after what I have been reading here and on other forums, I'm not so sure now. I've been riding and wrenching for over 50 year. I have built and rebuilt motorcycles from the ground up, including 4 Hondas...
