    Winter Storage

I typically keep the tank FULL with Ethanol Free fuel, and drain the carbs completely. Some have recommended keeping the carb bowls full too.

'79 750 has a very small oil leak. Looks like pan gasket. Is it possible to drain the oil before storage WITHOUT re-filling with oil until Spring next year? Thanks

    '79 750L Carb Re-build Kit

Randakk's has rebuild kits, but don't include jet needles. He recommends re-using the originals as they are better quality. Carbs may have been rebuilt by previous owner, and not sure what they used. Guess I'll find out eventually.

    '79 750L Carb Re-build Kit

Thank you, sir. I don't use fuel with ethanol, however, assume that in the life of a 40+ year old motorcycle that I've owned for only 2 years, it probably had ethanol fuel at one time. Will check your references. Any comments on several suppliers from Canada....Parts N More, vintagecb750.com...

Brake master cylinder, rebuild or replace?

Mine came with an aftermarket master cylinder attached, but had the original. Cleaned the reservoir and bore. Ordered a new rebuild kit, and installed. Rebuilt the caliper and installed that too. Connected the brake line, and began pumping the brake lever. Watched the air bubbles rise up into...

For Sale - Front Brake Caliper Parts Set for a '79 750

Complete parts set including pads for front brake caliper. Listing "for parts only", however, may be serviceable with some refurb and gasket set. $40 plus shipping. Any questions...just ask. Thanks for looking.

Brake master cylinder, rebuild or replace?

A mechanic made this for me. Piston stuck on a caliper from a '79 750. Grease gun pumped the piston out easily.

    Repairing side cover on a '79 CB750L

My '81 Custom had one broken tab on one of the covers. I drilled a small hole in the cover and ran a cable tie through the hole and the grommet. It was hardly noticeable and held the cover on securely. If more than one tab is broken, you may want to consider replacing the cover. If you can find...

    '79 LTD Rear Wheel

Understand. The arm indicators at the axle slot are hidden on both sides by the exhaust, making visual adjustment difficult by that method. Was using the notches on the chain adjusters. Making progress, but still need to tweak the axle alignment. Your advice about the free play with rider is...

    '79 LTD Rear Wheel

I settled on a 130/90. It's been without a rear wheel for a couple weeks as I first ordered a 120/70. That was a little too small, so I returned for a 130/90. Had the tire put on, and went to re-install on the bike. Everything fit together (chain, brakes, spacers, nut, chain adjusters etc.)...

    "79 Front Caliper

For sure. Actually found a complete caliper for a '79....it will need a bit more work to make it a serviceable replacement. Am almost done rebuilding my caliper and master cylinder. So many of these parts are unavailable...thought it prudent to have a spare. Thank you again.

    "79 Front Caliper

Looking closer....the 1981 Custom's left carrier (part that attaches the caliper to the fork) is much different. Bolt spacing is farther apart.

    "79 Front Caliper

Indeed, most of the internal parts have the same numbers, however, caliper, carrier, etc. are different. It's confusing as some parts have multiple part numbers. Guess I'll pass on the extra assembly. Thank you again.

Wanted to get a spare caliper for my '79 750LTD. Looks like left caliper from '81 Custom is the same. Can anyone confirm? Thanks.

    New Member / Price?

Certainly agree...Perhaps the prospective buyer will spend some time here and read, then make a more informed choice....or perhaps know what questions to ask.

    New Member / Price?

I had the exact same bike for 30+ years without issues...perhaps I was lucky. To me, price seems OK. You could always make an offer. Just be prepared for Mr. Murphy to raise his ugly head. If you have NO mechanical ability, be wary. Otherwise bike looks OK from the photos you provided.

Where is the owner's manual stored on a 1979 CB750F

Indeed, small plastic triangular box under left side cover. They will fit, but very tight. I had kit and manual in there in my '81 Custom.

    '79 LTD Rear Tire

So I've noticed...Also, none of the equivalent sizes have a tread pattern I'm looking for. All seem to be for sport bikes. I did find a 4.50-17 on Ebay, however, it was made in 2004 and so hard that it was unuseable....sent it back. Thanks for your advice.

    '79 LTD Rear Tire

I need a rear tire. The current mounted tire is 4.50-17. Tire dealers I have searched state that the rear is 18". Even Partzilla shows it as an 18" tire. This bike is all stock with the Comstar wheels. Cannot find a 4.50-17 vintage style tire anywhere. What would be the proper metric size....as...

    CB 750 k rc01 1982, questions.

Original mirrors are not left or right specific. The mirror turns completely around on the stem so they can be used on either side.

Brake master cylinder, rebuild or replace?

The '81 had two calipers. One came out by using my small tire inflator forcing air into the fitting. Wouldn't work on the other one. Used a larger compressor the same way...blew it right out easily.

    79 LTD Paint Color

Found the paint codes accidentally on Partszilla site fuel tank parts diagram. Darker color for the '79 LTD is Candy Bayard Brown YR106CU. Red is Candy Muse Red R104CU. This company has paint kits matching those codes.....https://colorndrive.com/en/motos---motorcycles-touch-up-paint.

    '79 750 Carbs Draining Fuel

Yes, there is a local gas station...less than 10 miles from me that sells non-ethanol fuel, however only 90 octane...which I think will be fine in the Honda. I removed the drain screws from the bowls of the two throttle side carbs...the only ones leaking. O-rings looked ok. Saw a related post...

    '79 750 Carbs Draining Fuel

Thanks, amc49. When I got the bike in November, I filled the tank with non-ethanol fuel, and drained the carbs completely for winter storage. There is NO rust in the tank. Taking carbs apart way above my pay grade. Might try your filling and wait 24 hrs. suggestion. This fuel draining happened...
