Yes ,hi. I bought the iridium plugs which seems to help with an irratic spark. The old plugs were ngk dr8es, iridiums are ngk dr8eix. The caps are the standard ngk, 1&4 are the angled SD05's and 2&3 are the straight XD05's. The SD ones do have a removable resister, but the XD's do not. They all...
Hi all,
I have both NGK resister plugs (5k) and plug caps (5k) and this looks like too much on the spark as I have to set a small gap. I want to drop one of the resisters on each plug but do not want to replace my iridium plugs so looking for a set of recommended plug caps for this model...
I assume that the idle screw on number 2 is fully off?. Another thought is that they may be catching due to being misaligned. Try loosening the butterfly screws now they are bolted together to see if they self align and shut. Don't for get the thread lock.
What process did you follow to bench sync? What happens if you back off the idle?, force throttle off? You may have too much air somewhere. Leak or one of the butterflies may be letting too much air in the venturi to such up too much fuel.
Never used one of these but it does look to have quite a few inputs that would prevent the ignition output to function which includes the kill switch input etc. Assumed you have that covered? Does you bike use the spark amplifiers between the timing output and the coils? Are they energised? I...
I am afraid you need to do a whole lot of diagnostics. If it has been sat for too long, then changing the oil and filter is a must before attempting to start. Then take the plugs out and rest them on the engine and check for spark on all 4. If that is OK and the timing is good, it can only be...
So, fuel, spark and air......
Fuel, instead of using the choke, try and put your hand over the airbox intake to try and increase the vacuum in the carb to pull the fuel through. Have you checked for vacuum strength? Also check for a blockage.
Spark, is it strong enough and firing at the right...
Hiya, the black pipe is a breather pipe that connects to a T piece in to the top of the airbox. Would not cause your issues. If the engine will not turn over, would normally be electrical. Normally you would use a battery tester or simply try and charge it. The battery you have is one that you...
I have a similar issue on 2 but as it is running smoothly enough, I chose to leave it and ride it this season. Will look to resync over winter maybe or in the spring as not many riding days left for me mate.
Sounds like a false air or slightly blocked jet. The need for the choke is to increase the vacuum through the carb to pull more fuel from the carb Wells. Either the rubber boots from the carbs to the head are leaking or air getting in somewhere it shouldn't. QQ, have the carbs been rebuilt? If...
I tried pods on mine and found just the same happening. The pods have less air resistance to were reducing the vacuum level in the velocity chamber so on idle, drew less fuel. I tried to install restriction plates in the pods but then the top end was affected. Fine balance these bloody things...
