Whelp. I was operating under the assumption is was the washer behind the clutch housing as others had mentioned on another forum. Ended up putting the the motor back together only to find out it was not the correct diameter. So got the motor fully assembled and left with that “thrust washer”…………...
I
i don’t think that’s it.
1) I can’t get the bearing off to access (haven’t tried that hard but I would have remembered removing).
2) I believe I see it in the below pic.
Man I don’t ever remember taking off that main bearing behind the splined washer. But I’m ping to open the awe and double check as it certainly makes sense since I added that splined washer.
Sorry for the LONG delay. New job and it’s been a grind.
Thank you very much. You are spot on. I believe I removed the lrg primary gear when tearing down and must not have seen that collar on there when I did. (First tear down). Nonetheless, thank you VERY much for calling that out. Life saver!
Hello all,
Working on installing hoop on my ‘81 750K. As I am a bit down the path I have two questions.
1) any recommendations n how to get the bottom half of the frame pipe out of the support without cutting the support gusset? (Pic 1)
2) currently deciding between two methods in the hoop...
Rebuilding my first engine. 81 cb750k. during the disassembly this little guy "fell" out when I had the oil pan off and was disassembling the lwr case. Not sure what it is nor where it came from.
Does anyone know the thread pitch on the M8 bolts for the lower crankcase? Appears to be 1.25 but I just wanted to check with those that may have more sophisticated ways of confirming.
I can’t be of much help as I have not progressed since this pic cause I had a bolt break off in the case and it’s been in the shop for 4 weeks waiting to have it removed.
But I will say that I started with everything in the bottom case but my service manual (and a videos) I watched all had it...
Haha,,,, well I went ahead and drill a small hole into the bolt and they used one of those “remove a screw” bits. That grabbed but just ended up making the hike a bit bigger. So I then drilled a bit deeper and then used a T15 but and set it in the hole. Used a wrench to loosen and the torx bit...
Doing my first ever engine rebuild, learning along the way. I am currently Re-assembling my 81 750 engine and I have had my first “oh-shit” moment. When installing the primary chain “guard/guide” the head of one of my bolts snapped off. How do you remove?
Putting my crankcase back together and what are some watch outs for common forgotten items. Ie I keep hearing mention of the two locating pins (have these) and a small oil ring. Not sure in the latter. What oil seals are in the case?
Doing my first engine rebuild and while I was tearing down the motor, working on getting the crankcases separated (I think) I had the motor on its side and this guy fell onto my worktop. Not sure what it is our where it came from.
Any thoughts?
So even with the micrometer, that will tell me OD of the main shaft but without knowing the case codes can I even get to a suggested bearing size/color?
Just inspecting and saw this. Not sure if this is a crack. Nothing is visible from the inside of the case. So not sure what’s going on here if if it is any concern.
looking for my journal markings. On the upper case I am seeing the below. Everything I read and watch says these should be alpha characters. But my case only have numbers??
Currently there are all greens for the main bearings as I can see the color on the bearings.
They are pretty clean. Wiped me down with a rag and breakcleaner before the pic. But I’ll reshoot a few more cause I agree they look a bit “pitted” or something in the pics.
