    ECU leaking orange goop

Yeah, it's this resin-like potting material coming from the ECU. From my research and observation that stuff can break down over time and/or if there is something electrical failing generating heat, start melting it after longer rides (what mine was doing). I bought a new (used) ECU off Ebay...

Considering a bike - asking for help

Haha, yeah both sides of my exhausts have scrapes from the previous owners but I'm afraid to crack the old exhaust off for fear of snapping the hardware! Either eBay to find stuff off old parts bikes or there are 4-to-1 aftermarket options but I prefer the symmetrical mufflers.

Considering a bike - asking for help

I have a 1991 Nighthawk 750, bought in college in 2004. Was fairly rough when I got it, but over the years cleaned it up very nice. If the one you're looking at has been stored or in a garage or inside with minimal/no obvious bad rusting and runs well, you can't go wrong. Engine is...

THE WIND IS TOO STRONG on my 98 750 Nighthawk. I think I would like the look of a front fairing, any thoughts.

I have a National Cycle Street Shield on my CB750. Doesn't block the wind as good as the giant one on my Kawasaki 1500 Nomad but it definitely helps soften some of that chest-pulling feeling on windy days on the highway. Also it looks good on a Nighthawk, though it's the tradeoff for not being...

    ECU leaking orange goop

Howdy again all, While I've got my 91 CB750 apart and repairing/replacing things, chasing electrical gremlins, etc. I found something. A while back I noticed an orange sticky sap under the bike sometimes if it sat after a long ride. Didn't think much of it as the bike is old, things leak...

    High Voltage problem [SOLVED!]

Ok everyone, I think I found the problem. The voltage signal going to the R/R must have had too much resistance from an old ignition switch (plus a kill switch I'd also run in line with it). So basically the R/R was doing it's job, just running off of a low reading and pumping out too much...

    High Voltage problem [SOLVED!]

One of the two R/R's I got was a Rick's one. I also just did a check on the alternator and all the resistance readings seem within range, though right on the higher edge of the limit, but still within. I agree 100% with you, the AC voltage should not be overpowering the R/R.

    High Voltage problem [SOLVED!]

Howdy, A couple weeks ago I saw my volt gauge reading high voltage while riding, so I got it home to check it. Since that reference gauge is just an aftermarket kuyakyn I installed for reference, I put my actual voltmeter to the battery. At idle it was reading 13.2v, and at around 4-5000 RPM...

    Let's see your CB750

My 1991 Nighthawk. Bought in college back in '04 and over the past 20 years cleaned up/upgraded her as my budget and mechanical talent will allow. She was rattlecan black with none of the extras back then
