Yellow paint markings on many bolts, esp. steering

Hmmm....not sure. Usually the marks are daubed onto the fasteners, mostly on the safety-related items, and usually they stick with 1 color for final inspection simplicity.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I recognize the purpose of the paint markings from my 40 years of auto restoration. Im looking for a photo so I can replicate them on my bike. Thanks

Yellow paint markings on many bolts, esp. steering

1975 CB. Found yellow paint remnants on fasteners under headlight. Thought it would be nice to refresh them, but now can't find the picture. Anyone have a pic of this? Thx.

    Sticky Throttle when Caps tightened

I agree with pickle knuckles...the cables can, and often do, crate a bind in the slides. I struggled with this on my '75 CB and in looking for info, found about 15 different ways to route the cables. There is really only 1 way.

Any experience of Boyer Bransden electronic ignition units?

'73 850 Norton, '75 CB750. Both with Boyer. Great! (especially handy on the kick-only Commando)

Please help not sure what else to do 1975 Honda CB750k

I have a '75 and in January was having the exact same symptoms. After a ton of testing everything it turned out the battery was bad. Even though it displayed 12.6v, it would not hold it when cranking. One new battery later all is good.

Agree-starter fluid can cause damage. Use very, very sparingly, if at all.

1973, Installing new OEM harness, no power to the black wires (12v pos)

Sounds like quite the project. I asked 10 people how to route the harness and cables (esp under the tank). Got 8 different answers. But I do have it correct now, and happy to offer any photos, etc.

'75 CB 750 died while cranking, now no power

Thanks for checking in... and you are 100% correct-battery! In addition to doing that exact load check, I would fully charge the battery and one start attempt it would be under voltage. New battery and good to go. Happy New Year!

    Slider problem on Carb

Glad it helped. I also just got a '75 and went through the carbs. I strongly recommend replacing the o-rings on the fuel transfer tubes while apart. That's why I got to do my carbs twice.....

    Clutch cable secured to frame?

Thank you. Those are like the straps that secure the main harness under the tank/seat. The factory manual illustrates those as well.

    Slider problem on Carb

Are you sure the needle is entering the hole in the jet? Or is the needle bent? I notice the choke plate in the trouble carb. Is it interfering with the slide?

So I've seen clutch cable: Not secured to frame Secured with zip ties Secured with band clamp(s) How did they leave factory? Thanks

    Poor man's carb sync

Sorry, I don't. Think it was down around 1/8-3/16". But the absolute size isn't as important as getting them all equal. Once they all match, you can raise or lower all together with the idle screw.

    Poor man's carb sync

It runs so good I thought I'd share... Completely rebuilt carbs-ultra-sonic cleaning, new guts, the whole bit. Don't have a sync tool, so I loosened the slide adjuster nuts and selected a drill bit that could just fit in the gap between the bore and slide. Adjusted all to same drill bit. Can...

    Popping 15amp fuses

I struggled with what I thought was a short on my K5, after hours with a multi-meter, jumper wires, etc it ended up the battery was bad internally. Yep, electrical stuff can be a bitch. Not to derail the thread, but where are you getting the 5x25mm 15A fuses? Seem very hard to find...

Carb & air box installation= impossible task!

Great, then I guessed right. Got the carbs back on and the bike running with no leaks! Still struggling with the air box and probably for the same reason-aged, hardened boots. I'm ordering those, too.

Carb & air box installation= impossible task!

Thanks all for the replies-it was a very frustrating day. Excuse my vent... Now I have new Genuine Honda boots with the numbers stamped. Looks like the numbers face up, and toward the carbs, or....? Thx

Carb & air box installation= impossible task!

The good-rebuilt carbs, they no longer leak (transfer tubes). The bad-can not get them back on. I've owned, worked on, restored, and raced cars for 30 years. This, by far, is the most difficult thing to do in the history of motorized transportation!! F*&^k me!!

    Reflectors-side of forks covers-size anxiety
