    My CB750 (75) project

I'm not up to date on swapping part with a 550; what's the advantage here? Are we shortening the wheel base, going for the Cafe look or does the 550 have a better design? Thanks,

Identifying my CB750C with SOHC motor

This from Google search, looks like they pumped up the "F" motor to 73HP (brain fart, I knew that) and bumped the Red Line 1K. Just a guess here, someone switched frame VIN tags, perhaps once a stolen bike? Sometime the orginal records will also have the engine number listed with VIN tag. A...

Identifying my CB750C with SOHC motor

This set might be for sale on FleaBay listed as early build but not really. Many of the resale people don't have any idea what they are selling. I've seen the same set listed as fitting K0 to K8....well, it might fit but it's not correct. Here is a pic of MY box stock '78; I also have a '77...

Identifying my CB750C with SOHC motor

The Tach is from a DOHC motor; red line is 9500 Vs SOHC at 8500. Looks to me like someone slipped an early motor into a late frame.....check the engine numbers, you can tell the production year from the first 4 or 6 didgets. Everything else looks like a standard CB750C.

    How to get replacement keys

A good locksmith can make you a new key if he can come up with a blank. It takes a little time (20-30mins), a few bucks and you'll have a new key. You can do it yourself if you have a blank, a good sharp small 3 sided file and don't rush it. Use a little pencel lead or sharpy to mark the key...

    Generator power output of a '78 750K?

April/24 Did another check and the V's were back up flurting with 15V again. So, I removed both the regulater and rectifier from my '77 parts bike and swapped them out.....once again I'm back down to 14v's at 5K. I'll check it again after a few tanks of fuel to see if everything is still...

Wanted - 1978 CB750 super sport gas tank

I have an extra one off a '77 (same tank), has a couple of dents. One looks like an EZ push out from the inside, the other is top side next to the gas lid....above my body work ability to fix. Can post pics if interested. DFW, Texas

    Green oil?

You can always send a sample to Blackstone Laboratories for annalysis. I use them for both by Vettes (will also start with my 750 with first oil change). It makes it easy to spot small issues long before they become large issues.

    CDI question

Looking at a 1980 DOHC Wiring drawing, I see two ignition coils and two spark units (CDI). I'm assuming your '79 is setup the same.

    CDI question

"The wiring diagram says ‘pick up’. Can anyone indicate what this is"? This normally refers to the electronic points or what would be Points in older bikes. Check out the area of the crank (probably right side) for a magnettic rotating switch mounted on the crank shaft. Good luck.

    Possible upgrades from newer bikes

In my mind, the best thing that happened to the last two years of the "K" and early "F" bikes was going to the larger drive chain (and of course sprockets) over the K0 to K6. Back in the day, there was a company selling a "Super Chain" kit that was 3/4" by 1/2" that ran on a nylon rear...

    Generator power output of a '78 750K?

1/11/24 Happy days! Voltage issue fixed....at least for now. I pulled the cover off the regulator (without removing it from it's mounting spot) and loosened the 7mm lock nut. Fired up the motor to watch the charging V's and DAMM! 13.8 to 14V's.... So I'm guessing 1. by wrinching on the...

1973, Installing new OEM harness, no power to the black wires (12v pos)

Double check your Ground Wires......lots of them! I feel for ya, just went through some of the same issues with my '78 because the prior guy put a new harness in but wasn't the correct year. Wire colors didn't match up....had to rely on wiring diagram to get close; the rest I managed to get...

    Generator power output of a '78 750K?

I was just going through my Honda motor manual and found a charging chart by RPM and how to adjust the voltage regulator. I also ran across an U-Tube video of a guy talking about the voltage regulator; he had nothing good to say about attempting to make an adjustment. He said it would open a...

    Generator power output of a '78 750K?

I'm thinking that too; once I confirm the calibration of my 30 year old trusty Radio Shack Multimeter, I will look that the voltage regulater. I'm assuming that it is not adjustable? No way I'm getting off the easy!

    Generator power output of a '78 750K?

Well I got to thinking about this a little more, decided to take the bull by the horns and check this out a little more in depth. I just went out and fired up the ole steed, put my digital voltmeter on the battery to see just how many V's I had at idle, 2K and 5K revs. The results were mostly...

    Generator power output of a '78 750K?

I have been looking for output numbers of the charging system on my '78 but not seeing it in any of the books. Is it possible to recalibrate the speedo?

I have a '78 and just added a cell phone mount, now I can see (by using Google Maps) that my speedo is fast by 4 MPH at 40 MPH. I believe back in the day one had to change the magnitisum on the needle drive to get it closer. Not sure if there are any old speedometer shops left now a days, know...

    Let's see your CB750

I picked this '78 up last Septemer off of BaT. Pretty far condition for 45 years old and runs damm good too. I bought this to keep me out of my E-Z chair and away from the boob tube. So far I have changed the headlight to a good LED, added a rear rack and changed the rear turn signals to dual...
