Wait'll you hear what she has to say when you accidentally run into her with your Jeep and crush in the side of the gas tank with pristine factory paint... I'd almost rather have a crazy ex-wife. Might be cheaper, too. 😎

    New bike, need advice

Watch a few episodes of The Bearded Mechanic on Youtube. He sort of specializes in finding old, abandoned bikes and getting them back up and running. That'll give you the idea of the steps involved and where to start.

For Sale - DOHC CB750 exhaust KERKER

I manage 13 campgrounds in the Bishop/Mammoth area during the summer. Unfortunately, I'm basically on call 24/7. I can fit in an occasional afternoon ride, but a trip across the mountain has to be planned quite a way in advance. I don't really need the exhaust, as my '79 Limited already has a...

    Airbox replacement with inline filters.#%&X

Most of the advice you're going to get on those CV carbs on the 2nd gen 750 is going to be to put the stock air box back on. The diaphragms in the CV carbs need vacuum to work right and the pod filters are just too free-flowing. Occasionally someone will claim to get their bike to run right...

    Stator screws

My current favorite tee shirt in my wardrobe has a screaming skull with the DSOTM prism in the background and the words "there's someone in my head but it's not me". I also saw them in '76 (or maybe '77, who honestly remembers?) in Tempe, AZ at Sun Devil stadium.

I always build the rolling frame first. That way, when I'm butthole deep in problems with the engine I can look at the frame and think how nice she's going to look when I'm done. Photos are nice.

Well since my painter didn't get done in time, I didn't get to bring the bike to Cali with me this summer. I'm sure by the time I get home in October it'll need something. Thanks for running the contest.

    Looking for OEM exhaust

All my Hondas (up until my current one) have had stock exhaust, so my experience with modifying exhaust is on old Harleys with drag pipes. Over the years I found that just a smidge of obstruction in the end of the pipe helped with the low end and didn't hurt the top end. Google "snuff or not"...

I think that muffler looks just fine. I like the way you kicked it up. Sort of reminiscent of the old Nortons. I always thought the way they kicked the mufflers up at the back made the bike look fast, even on the side stand. Have you started the bike yet? Curious as to how loud the cheapo...

    79 CB750K Exhaust Fabrication?

The OEM exhaust on the K and the Ltd are the same. 4 into 4. The Ltd is really just a K with fancy paint and ComStar wheels.

Can't wait to see it again after you've ridden it for a while. My favorite thing about stainless exhaust is the way the heat changes the color. I know a lot of people don't like that but I love the blue fading into the gold as it proceeds down the pipe.

    Looking for OEM exhaust

Not really familiar on the baffles. Both of my other 750s had 4into 4 pipes and the 4 into 2 on my current bike is aftermarket. I've never looked at taking the baffles out because I think it's already too loud.

    New CB750 owner

I kinda like it, but I doubt that I'd ride it more than 50 miles at a shot. But then I'm old and fat.

    Looking for OEM exhaust

Not sure if your exhaust is stock or not, but all the pictures of a '80 CB 750 Custom that I find on the 'net show the 4 into 2 exhaust. I believe that was one of the differences of the Custom vs. the standard K model. Mine also has a 4 into 2, but it's aftermarket and not stock on the LTD...

Yeah, mine likes that procedure also if it hasn't been started in a week or so. Overnight, that doesn't seem to be necessary.

    79 LTD Paint Color

Finally got around to having my sample panels painted. The Candy Muse Red available from VMR is pretty close to the lighter red on the Anniversary paint job, but the Candy Bayard Brown is way browner than the darker maroon color on the original paint job. It's a beautiful color and actually...

    Wanted - Fuel tank cb750 80-82 year

When I was looking for a tank for my '79, I looked everywhere. Ended up finding a tank on Ebay that was good inside and out, but the wrong colors. It's at the painter's as I type.

Have 'em shipped to your work address. Used to work for me. My wife never did find out how much I spent (and it was a pile, I'll tell you) on that old Shovehead I used to have.

    Hot seized, then free. Rebuild?

Don't know if it applies, but an inexperienced rider lugging the bike can cause the engine to build enough heat that it'll seize. Very first motorcycle mechanical lesson I learned on a brand new CB175 back in '69 or '70. My old man was pissed as warranty didn't cover it.
