    Shifter sticking

where possible use genuine parts there is way too much crap on the market for cars and bikes, some pattern parts making things dangerous, people make money out of the crap. i make most of my gaskets and always mic up the original before choosing the gasket paper, funnily enough gear change can...

    Shifter sticking

if you put some engineers blue on the gear shift plate and bolt the case up then try the gears if the case is binding it up you will see where it is tight, if you haven't got the blue use a tiny smear of grease, if the gasket is thinner than the original that could be why.

    1979 CB750k - Valve Clearance Clarification

it could be bad seating of the valves or ring/ piston /bore wear, i think it has been mentioned on here that at 30,000 miles they are ready for a valve job, mine is on about 30,000 and just manages about 100 to 125 psi across the cylinders . it doesn't like starting easily in the winter and the...

    Cold start issues

andyfloyd is that your name or have you become comfortably numb , anyway mines a 79 and awkward to start in the winter but carbs are all sorted, i have seen on here that valve gear and lower compression can also make them hard to start.

    First engine rebuild

there is never a dumb question but i might give dumb answers. my answer is if it starts easily enough and runs well i would leave it alone until it gives you starting and running problems, i tested the compression on mine and all were not as they should be after 40,000 km they were down to the...

    Exhaust headers removal

propane torch and apply to the nut and when your spit sizzles try and tighten the nuts , if they shift a tiny bit you have a good chance, don't get the nuts red hot. you might have to repeat this over and over and if they don't budge like mine didn't after 2 weeks on and off of trying with...

    Exhaust headers removal

i stopped trying mine because i knew it would end badly, mine had seen bad weather for years but if you use plenty of penetrating oil and maybe localised heat with trying to tighten them a little bit first you could be in luck. if they shift a bit when trying to tighten them you have a good...
