so just measure the hole in the tank and put some thread gauges in the hole and buy a fuel tap the same diameter and thread pitch . i am not draining my tank to measure the tap size and thread pitch, why should a japanese tank have a specific bastard size thread on a few tanks

all the nighthawk tanks i have seen have a screw in tap like mine, so are these 1992 etc nighthawk tank pictures wrong and people advertising 1992 -3 tanks for sale selling the wrong tank?

i took away this vacuum gubbings and put a tap in the tank and tube direct to the carb inlet rail tube and blocked off the vacuum pipe on number 2 carb, bit dark in the garage but you can see the clip on the carb rail downtube ,don't know about your other pipe that comes from the engine mine...

i put a normal petrol tap in the tank fixed a tube to the carb inlet rail and plugged up the vacuum carb , this got rid of all the vacuum set up.

if you put some engineers blue on the gear shift plate and bolt the case up then try the gears if the case is binding it up you will see where it is tight, if you haven't got the blue use a tiny smear of grease, if the gasket is thinner than the original that could be why.
