Ignition Switch Short (ignition position ON, red wire to ignition goes dead) 1976 CB750F Super Sport

Just completed a restoration of my harness, untaped end to end, retaped all soldered joins, fixed a few issues along the way then taped it all up again, total cost about half a roll of Scotch insulating tape and several hours on the kitchen table! Loki

    CB750 F1 UK spec

Have a word with your friendly local hydraulic man who should be able to put something together for you, very important you use a good quality liquid filled gauge as the last thing you want is for it to fail and dump all your oil. Loki

    UK 76/77 CB750F1 wiring diagram?

Further to my last I have discovered I have no green/red to the clutch switch from the link between the starter solenoid and the diode next to the flasher unit, there is a soldered connection between the start solenoid and diode where I could connect a cable but doesn't look like there was...

    UK 76/77 CB750F1 wiring diagram?

Hi everyone, looking for a UK wiring diagram for my 76/77 F1 which doesn't have the position lights in the front flasher lamps. I've stripped out the wiring harness to check the buried solder connections under the taping as the tape glue has degraded and don't want any shorts under the taping...

Ignition switch connector wiring opinions for worn wires going in to the connector

The connectors in the multiplug are easily removed by pushing a small watchmakers screwdriver under the spade connector to release the locking tang then pull the spade connector out of the housing, this will allow close inspection and testing of the wiring and security of the crimp, etc. check...

    New project CB750F1

Turns out you don't really need the pin spring as the cover plate on top has ears to stop the pins falling out so all assembled ready to fit when the time comes. New stainless steel pistons fitted so no more rust! You can see the bleed nipple insert in place Loki

    1977 CB750F rear caliper

Drilled and tapped M10 x 1.0 and fitted bleed nipple insert so all good now, reassembled with new pistons and gave it a coat of black smoothrite, looks brand new now. Loki

    New project CB750F1

New problem with rear brake caliper, I'm missing the following part for my rear brake caliper 43213-371-006 spring pad this secures the pad pins in place in the rear caliper, without this spring there is nothing stopping the pad pins from falling out with obvious bad consequences! these are...

    New project CB750F1

Hi Hinksy, finally worked out how the swinging arm pivots and yes mine is standard and all as it should be. Seized calipers I fit a grease nipple to the fluid port and pump the pistons out that way with a small trigger grease gun and slowly increase the pressure until they're out, rear caliper...

    New project CB750F1

Been spending time today getting a coat of high build primer on the frame then tackled the brake master cylinders front and rear, both the rear ones I had to work with had the pistons seized in the bore but a bit of sideways thinking had them both stripped and in the ultrasonic bath, the front...

    New project CB750F1

I had a closer look at my swinging arm and the bushes, it seems that the bushes are some kind of plastic material and the inner sleeve is what bears on the inner diameter of the bushes? Here are photos of mine. So I guess this is correct? Loki

    New project CB750F1

Can you see the lip when the bushes are fitted or are they flush with the ends of th pivot tube?

    New project CB750F1

Looking at my swinging arm after I'd blasted it and looking at the bushes something doesn't look right, the bushes I've seen have a rim at the end which presumably would be visible when fitted in the swinging arm however the bushes in mine are flush with the end of the pivot tube, however, the...

    New project CB750F1

Didn't know that but as an engineer I never liked the look of a composite wheel rivetted together on a motorbike!, my rear wheel has already been rebuilt with a stainless rim and I'm in the process of doing the same with the front, just waiting for the spokes just now. Loki

    New project CB750F1

That's correct except that the F1 carried over into '77 as the F2 came out April I think or thereabouts. Also F2 has the Comstar wheels and different brakes amongst other differences. Loki

Thanks for the pic Hinksy, as you say front of the frame should be the same if the engine mounts are the same, I do like the look of the chrome bars but will have to put them on the nice to have list for now as the spend so far is climbing steadily and it's still all in bits! Loki

    New project CB750F1

Been putting my latest purchase to good use, bought an ultrasonic cleaner and done the front and rear brake calipers, carb. float bowls and upper fork yoke, think I might polish it as the paint all came off in the u/s cleaner and it's nice smooth alloy now so shouldn't take much to get it...

    Chrome plating tips

Due to spending several years in a damp shed all the chrome on my project is going to need replating or replaced depending on cost of replating against replacement costs, anyway looking at the kickstart lever I imagine replating will be less than replacement, has anyone had theirs replated and...
