Paintwork and the engine have been done , now the build begins

Much happier now with the routing of the front brake line . When I put in the new master kit , I swapped the hose around , so now the 3 way joiner on the bottom triple tree has all of the bends and the master and the calipers have the straights . One thing I am not happy with , is how quick...

    New project CB750F1

It looks like your arm bushes are a two piece design , so they still do the same job . My brakes were toast , every piston was siezed except the front left , it was only partially siezed . I soaked them in CRC/WD for a week and ended up useing air pressure to blow out the pistons . Scared the...

Yes you can see the lip , maybe yours was worn off ? The pic I put up is for an F and you can see the edge that sits against the outside of the swingarm

Thats how mine are , dont know if you can see them in the pic , but they have a rim that mates up with the tube . I have the std type which are nylon I think and they were the only thing I didnt have to replace . I have seen the brass replacements and they also have a lip , maybe the previous...

Paintwork and the engine have been done , now the build begins

Brake master kit has arrived , so now I have to strip the bike again as I dont want to get any brake fluid on it . Not happy with the front brake hose routeing anyway , so I will look at redoing them . Funny how you order a part and you get sent something totally different . Another thing people...

    CB750 Sound of Engine Seizure?

Should have remembered , but it was in the eighties . If you read dirtdiggers post , I think he has it . I siezed a cam journal back in the eighties and it made a chirping noise . The oil restrictors had been blocked and the cam ran dry

Synced the carbs today , she certainly has a nice idle . Didnt take long to yellow up the pipes , I suppose that is the price you pay when you use thin wall stainless

Paintwork and the engine have been done , now the build begins

Low and behold , I have finally figured out some of the technodigicals on this site . So here are two vids , one is when I picked up the motor and andrew test ran it in an engine stand . The second one is after I had primed the oil system and turned on the ignition and fuel for the first time ...

    New project CB750F1

You can see a difference between the F1 and F2 frames , where the passenger pegs mount are different . I am fairly sure the engines are the same externally , so the mounts should be the same . I have noticed the price of the crash bars and have never seen a cheap pair , go figure . Only thing...

    Chrome plating tips

Have you tried WD40 and quad zero steel wool ? Did wonders on my F2 , still need a new front guard , but got rid of a lot of the surface rust . Then I was put onto evaporust and I must say it works wonders

    Front brake switch

My master has this set up , you can see the light switch screwed to the underside on the right of the pic . I was having trouble with mine and thought about buying a new one , seems that isnt possible . So I thought I would get a reproduction only to find out that they do not have an option for...

Paintwork and the engine have been done , now the build begins

Fired her up this week , primed it with a few runs on the starter , didnt take to long to have the oil light cut out . No choke and broom fired almost right away and idled for a while . Revved quite smoothly but not as good as I was hoping for off idle . So now just need to fine tune the carbs (...

Im in townsville nth qld . When you say flooded do you mean water ? Have you flushed out the motor and reoiled it ? If not you might have some internal rust . You can take off the oil pan on the bottom of the motor and see the middle of the crank . Take off the clutch housing and even the...

Paintwork and the engine have been done , now the build begins

Yes it is john . I just put the motor onto a milk crate and lowered the frame over it , then stood it up . Very easy to do by yourself . I pulled my original F2 by myself in the 70`s and did it the hard way .

Paintwork and the engine have been done , now the build begins

YEAH NAH ! Looks like the rubber of the seal has just hardened up so much after sitting dry for two years that it wont give . Once the grease wears off the piston just jams as the seal wont compress enough to allow it to move against the spring pressure . So new kit ordered and hopefully problem...

Paintwork and the engine have been done , now the build begins

Had a breakthrough on the technodigicals . It seems if you follow these diagrams , you will be led astray as they show that everything has an earth connected to it . WRONG ! They ground to were they are mounted . I had been trying to get everything connected and earthed and use what wires came...

Paintwork and the engine have been done , now the build begins

Stripped the front master today and all I could find was the piston is somehow jamming . Cylinder bore is clean and clear with no scoring . Seals and rubbers all fitted properly and the two ports were clean and clear , bit of a head scratcher that one . Also think the sliding caliper bolts are...

Chose to disconnect the headlight circuit from the starter and after blowing the main fuse 3 times I found out the starter relay was stuck and it became unstuck as I went through the harness testing each main power circuit . So close now , just have to figure out the technodigicals . Am I right in guessing the US starter cuts out the headlight when you press it ? I am converting it to aussie spec with headlight/park lights and we only have a two wire starter . This has a three and by the wiring diagram Black red...

    1977 CB750F rear caliper

While you are waiting for the grease nipple , soke the caliper /pistons in penetrant . They could be very badly corroded and might need some help unsticking . I think the cbx 1000 , gl 1000 and cx 500`s of the similar years had the same brakes . I did mine a while back and they were very hard to...
