Coughing and popping after 6K RPM

bike is stock; jetted a bit richer and with the adjustable metal/plastic floats (from a goldwing I think) instead of the rigid plastic ones. how white would u call a lean spark plug on these motors? 'cause they where always on the light gray side.

Coughing and popping after 6K RPM

no no I meant the camshafts; when i ck'd the valves I did a visual check of the cams and chains. Valves are in spec at .08 intake and .10 exaust the plugs do look a bit on the lean side and I did fatten the jets a few years back; maybe re-jeting again?

on my 1980 CB750 C, can I replace base and head gaskets without pulling the motor?

yes the idea was to replace the studs with thicker ones because ultimately that is the one under engineered issue with these engines and the sohc ones. I think I remember the head coming out ok and the cylinders being the issue. anyway, thanks for feedback, I shall execute and report..cheers

on my 1980 CB750 C, can I replace base and head gaskets without pulling the motor?

thank you Sense, I guess I'll just go ahead and try it; yes, those studs will be tricky to get out and another garage rumor is there was a recall on it too. I'll be measuring old and new and see if there is any '40 years' let...

on my 1980 CB750 C, can I replace base and head gaskets without pulling the motor?

...is this at all possible? hello everyone.. a garage rumor says I can pull valve cover and head off, remove studs ( and maybe replace them) and then cylinder block should have enough clearance to be pulled out. anyone ever try this? thanks for any feedback! lou
