    Master Cylinder

Hi there: thanks for the pictures it helps a lot. I'm going to assume that the 425-73 is the paint colour. I have the same number on my seat but didn't know what it was. You have a number 00804 and mine has 01104 so the only number that is the same is the 425-73 so I will check with Byron...

    Master Cylinder

Hi mufalcon24, I just talked to the paint guy and he said that the paint code number is usually under the seat on these bikes. Any possibility of you having a look under the seat and see if there is a paint number there? I would really appreciate that. Thanks Chris

Hi mpfalcon24: Perfect that is the exact bike that I have. Could you possibly do me a favour and take a picture of the warning decal and the Custom decal on the tank please. I have been trying to find these so I can get the decal made locally. Or do you know where I could get the decals for...

    Master Cylinder

Yes I have two holes, the big one was an easy clean, not so easy on the small one, used a number drill in a pin drill to cut through some of the crud and then put the .009 thou wire in the pin drill and got that small hole nice and clean. There are some marks in the bore but I think it should...

    Master Cylinder

Finally got the brake fluid take off the frame, had to pry it out with a foot long screwdriver. Turns out the is a recessed ring on the tank that is chamfered so the tank goes in fairly easily but when removing you have to get that ridge over the "O" ring, once a part of it goes over the "O"...

    Master Cylinder

I'm going to give it a go again with my prybars, I tried last night but it did not budge so I looked on line to see if I could get a replacement and they are available from Vintage CB, so if it breaks no big deal....lol I'll let you know how it goes

    1980 CB 750C

I have a 1980 CB750C (Custom) and am trying to find what colours were available for that model year. I have one that says "Candy Muse Red" was one of the colours for that year. Were there any others? Thanks

So am I right, that it does just pull out without anything else but the "O" rings holding it in?

    Master Cylinder

I am trying to get the master cylinder reservoir off the base. It is the plastic one with the 4 screws to hold it in place. I removed the 4 screws and tried to pull it out. It will rotate quite freely but it refuses to come out. It looks like there is two rubber "O" rings or seals that is...

    Reupholster 1980 Seat

I have a 1980 CB750C that I am redoing the seat cover on. I took the chrome seat trim off by removing the press C clip on the blind studs. I am trying to find out if anyone knows where I can get some replacement studs to use in place of the old ones. Thanks Chris

    Compressions

Yes that's what I figured. I talked to him (Mike) in person. Seems like a nice guy and says he believes in service. Says it will be about a month or so and I should have them back. No rush, I have lots of other things to get cleaned up. Spent some time last night on the old chrome and my...

    Compressions

I reconsidered doing the carbs myself and have decided to send them off to Mike at The Carb Project. Talked with him on the phone and he said that he could do that without a problem. So they are going to be on their way via Fedex today. I thought better safe than sorry on such a critical...

    Compressions

Hi there amc49: Thanks for the input, just managed to get the carbs off and the number one slide is stuck solid so that is where the problem lies I believe. Will know more after I have done the carbs. Did a teardown last night removed the seat, tank, exhaust and some goofy after market back...

Do you think I should do a leak down test to verify everything inside the cylinder? Just trying to find out what might be causing the roughness on the running of the engine. While it seems to idle pretty good at 1000rpm, there seems to be a roughness when I crack the throttle. I have had...

    Compressions

Hi amc49: Just wanted to ask you about the compression in my 1980 750C. I have 150 on number one and 145 on the other three. Is this an ok pressure, I was reading in the manuals and they were saying the pressure should be 175 plus or minus 15. What is your thoughts on this? Should I tear...

    Looking for Fitz

Thanks amc49, I joined the other site and left a message for Fitz. Now will see if he responds. I started the bike up again today and now it idles about 900 to 1000 without dying. Perhaps it just needed some gas in the carbs to get everything working again. In your opinion; should I do a...

    Carb Rebuild? or ?

I just made the assumption that the 750 had points in it, I had in 1976 a 76 750 Four. Nothing in the 750 line since. Have had a few Goldwings and the only one I had to work on was a 1977 GL1000 and it had points. How is the timing adjusted? What are your thoughts for repairing the front...

    Repairing side cover on a '79 CB750L

One could look into the new 3D printing that they claim can be done with metal, just for Texas maybe? lol I have found if one constructs the tabs or repairs with the same type of plastic (very important), then the welded/moulded part should last as long as the original part.

    Carb Rebuild? or ?

I just got a 1980 750 Custom. A good barn find actually; if has been sitting for the better part of 32 years. This was a really "pig in a poke" gamble for me. When I looked at it, all the parts were still on the bike but no battery or kickstarter to see if the engine was seized. I paid $900...

    Repairing side cover on a '79 CB750L

It is actually much easier to just build up the plastic with new molden plastic with a plastic welder and then shape the material with a dremel, then paint it and no one will even know you had a broken part. I have done 100's of those type repairs from cracked fairings, tabs completely broken...
