Hi all, I need to pull the sleeves from my 1979 CB750 engine (I need to swap out damaged ones for non damaged ones). My question is whether any members have a sleeve puller they could lend me? I’m in Nottinghamshire, UK. My alternative is to fabricate one. Anyone able to help out?

Answering my own post. Invested in an air compressor for drying. Used serious amounts of degreaser, hot water, nylon brush and kitchen roll/kitchen paper. Ended up doing this in the kitchen for the hot water. Took care to protect the case using towels/blankets. Looks pretty good now.

Thanks, I ended up buying one of the rotor pullers. That did the job although I really had to hit it hard before it decided to pop off. Cheers

Hi all, I’m looking for advice on how to clean the bottom end? I’ve split the case and I know I’ve got a job on my hands as I had to drill out 3 seized pistons so lots of metal debris everywhere. What’s the best way of going about this massive clean up? Jet wash? Also, I have no air hose so...

Sorted, all removed. Now just a very stubborn rotor to go before being able to split the case.

Hi all, can anyone tell me whether a 1980 CB750KZ DOHC (UK version) RC01 engine is the same as the 750K (North American version) RC01 engine? I’m looking to potentially take parts from one to another. Thanks.

Some progress has been made with the valves - they are now all out. I ended up carefully tapping them out and using a bunch of lubricant. The stems were really rust free beyond where they went into the valve seats so hopefully no scoring took place as I tapped them through. I now need to...

Thanks all. I’m not that worried about keeping the original parts more about getting the engine running for as low a cost as possible. I think next steps are to get the pistons out and see how much damage there is on the cylinders/pistons before then starting the hunt to get some new ones...

Thanks, I’ve now removed the head. The pistons had thick (half inch) of grime on them and the valve train is badly corroded as well. My plan is to try and knock the pistons out using the wood and hammer method and then maybe remove the cylinder sleeves to measure them properly. The valve...
