    79 cb750 Dohc issue idling

And hundreds of people have the exact same issue lol Everyone is too cheap to buy good Keihin CR or Mikuni RS carbs on their custom builds then complain about how shitty they run with pods on stock carbs. Not saying you are complaining just saying this question comes up every week and the...

    79 cb750 Dohc issue idling

Stock are box or at the very least look for one of the air filter setups that connect to all 4 carbs. People wrap the pods with tape or something similar to restrict airflow which does what you are basically doing with your hand. But that looks like sh*t and you are restricting airflow and...

    79 cb750 Dohc issue idling

Its even worse if you try to run with nothing on the carbs. these carbs are terrible with anything but stock air box. Some people say they have jetted them and they run perfect woth pods but I about 100% guarantee they are down on power compared to stock air box. These carbs are too touchy...

    Doesn't sound good

If I had to guess the timing chain tensioner or guides broke. The plastic gets brittle and breaks off.

Newbie oil question, sorry in advance!

Yes that is what it is for, oil is supposed to drain out of the separator in the stock tank back to the engine

Newbie oil question, sorry in advance!

I kind of think that line probably should go to the nipple on the back of the motor.... most people dont really use clear tube so im guessing most dont really see what goes on in the tube. If it works fine and keeps the cap from blowing off while its connected to the back of the engine then I...

Newbie oil question, sorry in advance!

In the stock bike with the stock oil tank the nipple on the back of the motor goes to the air/oil separator in the oil tank. When I build a bike not using the stock tank I just vent the tank to atmosphere and vent the nipple on the motor to atmosphere with a short hose or if room I put a little...

Please help, spent too much time trying to diagnose

Good that you figured it out. I never do plug chops anymore, I can get spot on by feel with the choke. But what ever gets you the correct jetting is all that matters.

Please help, spent too much time trying to diagnose

Have you actually tried to ride the bike or only rev it? These carbs are the keyhole not round tops correct?? Keyholes are jetted leaner than the round tops because the keyholes have an accelerator pump. Make sure the accelerator pump is working and also spraying into all 4 carbs. If its...

You have to make sure the vent passage in the carb body is actually open. The hose can be open but still be plugged in the body passage that goes to the bowl area.

    1971 honda 750

Between carb 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 there is a short black hose connecting the carbs together. Then on the inside of carb 2 and 3 there is a 90deg nipple that is supposed to have a hose which is your bowl vents.

    Handed a CB750k, Need help

The compression tester cant be accurate. It wouldnt start on 80psi. These engines need minimum 150 to be considered healthy. If it is indeed that low then you could have some stuck rings but more common on this engine is the valve clearance is too tight. Need to be .004 to ,006" or valves...

Check compression, then do all the tune up items if engine is mechanically sound. adjust valves, adjust timing chain, replace points or file and adjust, set timing and dwell, sync the carbs. replace spark plugs.
