Yeah that’s probably the best bet to see if it will change anything I’ll have to get some insulator boots ordered and check back when they get here. I’ll definitely take this as a win that I don’t have to take the motor apart lol I appreciate the input everybody I almost accepted worst case...

The coils along with the wires and boots and plugs are all less than a month old but maybe it could be timing ?

Okay so the compression for all four was 120 -130 psi after doing it the way you told me and I appreciate that. That’s a huge relief but after looking at the plugs 1 and 4 had a healthier brown color to them and 2 and 3 were definitely over fueled. Should I go down on main jet size and see what...

Okay yeah I will give that a look and no it’s my mistake I failed to mention the pods but I put brand new spark plugs in before taking it for a decently long ride and they looked pretty good afterwards. So valve service first and then check compression

I have pods on the carbs if I had the air box I’d put it on and try it but I’d have to find one and you’re right it could be valves it’ll probably end up getting a valve job and piston rings after I take the motor out. I’ll have to do another compression check like loose chain mentioned and go...

Yes that’s compression the odometer says 56k on it so I’m assuming it’s definitely due for some rings which still baffles me slightly because it doesn’t skip a beat it runs great just doesn’t want to go very fast.

I checked cylinder 1 and 4 and believe I don’t need to test 2 and 3 number 1 was about 80 psi and number 4 is about 90 cold.

I came across some information that said the 77-78 models used the key hole style carbs and I have two bikes being one 77 and a 78 and I believe the original carbs had a 130 in them as well which is what led me to trying the bigger main jets. The key hole carbs I have are also in better...

hello overtone I have a 1977 cb750k that ive had for a while now and have finally got it almost where I want it the only thing now is I can’t get the bike to go above 75. I know it’s not necessary to go much faster but I live off a dangerous road and sometimes I like to get away from other...

    Cb750

Hello everyone making another post I’ve finally got my bike running again but am unsure if I need to change my jet sizes and air filter set up and maybe exhaust as well. So I have two of these bikes just focusing on one for right now got it running after finding the slow jets were badly clogged...

    1977 cb750

I would like to be at 1000 to 1500 rpm’s for idle I also just got done running through the carbs and cleaning them again to see if a float got stuck and noticed there was quite a bit of fuel left left inside where the carb boots bolt up. After cleaning them and putting them back on it hasn’t...

    1978 cb750

Second post on the forum I have another 1978 cb750 that will only run decent with the choke on and if i turn the choke off the bike will run but if I give it throttle it will bog and die out. The carbs are brand new (reman) and very clean. Was also wondering what type of fuel is best for these...

    1977 cb750

hello new to the forum had to join because I have a 1977 cb750 that has been very inconsistent I just recently synchronized all the carbs and cleaned them because the bike would lose throttle and die out but after doin that the bike ran good for a few days and now when I start it the rpm’s jump...
