Anyone have a take/practice using filters stored for a few years....
I know orings often have a quoted shelf- life of 10-15 years.

Is 5years too old for inside(non damp) stored oil filters?
Bought a bunch some time ago...didnt realise they were sitting there....dated by the still sealed box...

The paper and o-rings look like new...but dont want it crumbling in service..

The paper filter elements should have absolutely zero issue if kept dry.

O-rings, if they were in a sealed bag, would also have no issue. Flex them and make sure they're not dried out or cracked. Age will oxidize them and dry them out but being in a sealed environment can prevent this for a long time.
