Is it ok to use Shell ROTELLA 15w-40 when changing the oil in a ‘78 750a? 🤔

I’ve been seeing a few videos that people are using the ROTELLA as a alternative-

I wouldnt use anything higher than a 10-40 motocycle specific. The hondamatic is a detuned 750 and it sucks a lot of power pumping a heavy oil through the auto tranny.

The owner's manual for my '79 DOHC recommends a 10-40, and back in the day I used to use Castrol (dino, not synth). This new bike has some m/c specific brand of oil in it now. Am I gaining anything by staying with the m/c oil, or can I go back to Castrol without a problem? I know there's concern because the engine shares oil with the clutch and trans.

Motorcycle oil has the correct additive package for use with the wet clutch. Anything else could have additives that cause slippage of the clutch. Conventional vs synthetic is not the issue, it is the additives in the oil. I use nothing but synthetic Amsoil motorcycle oil and it works perfect.
