Knocking at low RPM that goes away

Hi guys - hope everyone had a good week. So the good news is I got the 1980 CB750F (speedometer indicates 31,000 miles +/-) back on the road after rebuilding the carbs and brakes and absolutely love it. Electrical system came up and it rides surprisingly well despite still needing everything...

Rebuilt the carbs - still flooding badly

@amc49 - thanks for the detailed response. I never thought to check the tubes, let me get those inspected. Seems unlikely that the rubber would go bad within hours, no?

Rebuilt the carbs - still flooding badly

Hi guys - my 1980 CB750F sat for about 12 years before I bought it. It's a pretty original bike including the factory carbs. I pulled them off to rebuild them, but just for grins actually ran the bike briefly off them and it ran surprisingly well but #2 carb was overflowing like crazy. I...

Oh crud - rear brake master cylinder is toast. Ideas on replacement?

Good morning and thank you for the response. I imagine that I need to keep the boar the same so as not to upset the balance of the bike with the original size and whatever I end up replacing it with, is that correct? Thanks!

Oh crud - rear brake master cylinder is toast. Ideas on replacement?

I went to rebuild the rear brake master on my 1980 CB750F and the circlip is completely rusted in place and won't budge. It is so stuck that even after wire brushing one of the eyes on the circlip snapped off. I've searched but can't seem to find a replacement M/C, everything is listed as...

Newbie w/ a 1980 CB750 Super Sport - tips on parts sourcing and waking her up?

Thank you for the tip, sounds like I need to just bite the bullet and fleetly disassemble the carbs otherwise I might be causing more problems than I’m solving. Sidenote – some of the old British cars I’m familiar with use a rubber diaphragm system and it’s very common that new owners spray...

Have people had a good experience with David Silver as a supplier?

Newbie w/ a 1980 CB750 Super Sport - tips on parts sourcing and waking her up?

Thanks @amc49, appreciate the response and tips. Will make sure to keep the OEM airbox. On the carbs pull them and do a full service including soaking them in a solution and then blow compressed air through them? Is there a go-to parts supplier for this bike you'd recommend? Thanks!

Just scored this awesome 1980, and I'm new here so hi!

@Raydog - I'm a newbie here with a similar situation (although you bike is cleaner, she looks great) so please keep us posted on your progress.

Newbie w/ a 1980 CB750 Super Sport - tips on parts sourcing and waking her up?

First of all, good morning and happy Friday. I was looking at SOHC CB750s (with excellent support from the SOHC guys here) but nothing came together when I came across a well cared for 1980 CB750 Super Sport locally. It has been stored (inside) since 2007 so it is going to need some...

Newbie with a suspension height question, exhaust, and intended use question

Thanks, looks like a great resource Unfortunately the bike needs other sorting out first, and the rear brakes don't really engage at all so not safe to ride especially with the front brake grabbing. I think I've decided to let this one pass and focus on a CB750F that I found. I'll give an...

Newbie with a suspension height question, exhaust, and intended use question

Hello - I'm such a newbie I haven't even bought a CB750 yet, but this seemed like a good place to ask for some coaching on these bikes. I'm a casual rider, mix of around town and generally under 200 miles a weekend touring. I'm an OK rider, have been riding a long time but not that many total...
