'78 750K slow throttle return and it's not the cable

Running lean on the carbs will also cause a high idle.

What is a good way to determine if a points condenser is good / bad ?

Look at them while running at night. Many times if you see sparks occuring as the points seperate its a bad condenser. Dont assume new aftermarket parts are good. I've had chinese points brand new that were bad. Or go with a Dyna electronic ignition. One of the best upgrades I did.

'78 CB750K project, where to start.....

Here's what I did to prevent handlebars from hitting tank. Drilled a tiny hole with a tiny bolt and two nuts that hit the steering stop prior to the norm

It is a dekelvic exhaust. The clip ons are awesome for looks and an aggressive riding position, but they do end up hurting the wrists a little. Not something for long distance. Especially with the 77 & 78 fuel tank. It's wider than before so you don't have the luxury of bringing them in any...

Do a compression check, check for intake vacuum leaks from carb boots, dont assume new chinese cheap parts work even when new....i had many parts that were broken even new

I didnt bother to try just running it when I bought it....brought it home and just took everything apart....the piston rings were so seized that after trying everything possible I had to repurchase new pistons....im talking about BBQ'ing pistons, hot cold, you name it...the rings were totally seized

Definitely rebuild those carbs, even after putting through cleaning, etc...the accelerator pump needs to be double checked. Also, if you're changing air filters and exhaust dont assume you need to rejet....I have a box of at least twenty different jets I went through....the factory ones were...

How's it going? I just recently finished a frame off of a K8....labor of love for sure....just remember, carbs, tank and a few things are not compatible with anything prior to K7

    Carb Jetting Weird!

I made sure the accelerator pump was on the money...and confirmed and decloged all the passageways....i confirmed float height with the clear tube method...actually i found it super useful to set float height like that..i cut a piece of tubing 14.5 mm high....then with each carb individually, in...

    Carb Jetting Weird!

She has no hiccups along the complete throttle range. So far so good, except for the dreaded hanging high idle

    Carb Jetting Weird!

Ok, so a high idle all the way down to reducing pilot jets #35 (stock) to one turn out. Otherwise great. The only thing i can think of is a high float bowl level that is too high that facilitates fuel getting into the cylinders. The way that I set the float bowl level was to cut a piece of...

    Carb Jetting Weird!

Ok so I put in the Dyna S ignition. What a difference. Everything super stable, etc. Much difference with carb tuning in general. Still have a dilema though. I'm down to the factory 35 pilot jet and a 115 main jet. I'm at two turns out with the pilot jet. Could running a stock 35 pilot...
