    First thing I’d do is pull the fuel line where it connects to the carbs, stick the end in a small can, turn the petcock on and make sure you have a good, steady stream of petrol feeding the carbs.

    The air sucking into the cylinders creates a vacuum. The diaphragms are located under the domes on the top of the carburetors. Very delicate they are.

    Mrtwowhl sounds like he’s on the right track. CV carbs. Vacuum lifts the slides, not throttle cable.

    Single disc up front. Drum in rear. That’s a K or a C But, spoke wheels who knows.

    Not really. I might at times use something to help hold the gasket in place while the cover goes on. A dab of gasket sealer, silicone or adhesive. But with myself, usually dry.

    I might dip them in a tray of 10w40 right before they go in. Wipe them down a bit so there isn’t oil over the place. I’ve put them in dry, pulled the clutch in and rocked the bike back and forward a bit after refilling the oil. Or hit the start with clutch disengaged 2 or three times to get...
