cb750 sohc `72 engine ticking noise

Pull the valve covers and inspect the underside of each cap. If there are small dents or nicks then one of your valves is hitting it. I read that sometimes wear on the valve seat can occur, causing you to get a false clearing reading and giving the valve way too much clearance.

Sounds like loose valve but you said you already checked the clearances. Does the noise go away when you pull clutch

1977 CB750F Super Sport Carburetor rebuild

You're quite right, I got confused last month. I hope you're all pleased to know that having rejetted with OEM brass a whole bunch and raised the needle one notch, perfected timing and tappet clearance etc, the bike runs beautifully with K&N pods. Thanks to everyone here for the help. I have...

    1978 CB750K Tuning

Haha, I remember you from months ago. You helped me out with a link explaining how to dismantle and reassemble the carb bank. It was a total pain in the butt, but worthwhile.

    1978 CB750K Tuning

If it's only idling on choke, you're running lean, aka not enough fuel and too much air. You can verify this by pulling your plugs. Put new plugs in, run the bike at idle for 2-3 min (try not to use choke, use idle adjust screw or throttle to keep it alive if possible). Pull plugs, see if the...

low brake pressure - bleeding the brakes wrong?

Personally I can't pull my lever anywhere near to the bar, and my front brake is extremely responsive. And it's an extremely shitty, old master cylinder that I hurriedly rebuilt. Have you checked your brake lines for tiny leaks? I made custom brake lines for my clip-ons and I messed up the first...

Clutch does not release at all..................

Cliff, it's my pleasure. Between this forum and http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php I could never have gotten this bike running the way I have. Even with pod filters on and open 4:1 exhaust it purrs like a sewing machine and snarls like a scalded panther when I open it up. I don't have an HOA here...

Clutch does not release at all..................

Oh, lol. I know exactly what you mean. I had the same head-scratcher - tell me this, does it feel “different” eg “looser” when you turn the rear tire with the clutch pulled and in gear Vs not pulled and in gear. Because I rebuilt my clutch with new plates and springs a couple weeks ago and was...

    Question on carbs

PD carbs are much less finnicky than the others in my opinion. 35 slow and 105 main, usually 14.5mm float height. If you need jets, order from jetsrus because they have OEM brass which is obviously better. I’m running 40 slow and 120 main due to very open 4:1 and pods. As gunr said the throttle...

Clutch does not release at all..................

Did you adjust the ball bearing lifter clearance just inside the outer cover? It’s adjusted by loosening the jam nut and then adjusting with a flat screwdriver. If it’s not “in” far enough then the clutch won’t engage. Common occurrence with clutch rebuilds, the clearance gets out of wack when...

    Carburetor compatibility

All my holes were stripped. I got this and now everything is perfect. Repairing the threads on the PD carbs will be quicker and easier than finding a way to connect the wrong carbs to the wrong intakes, in my opinion. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007IBRJQC?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

    Buying and worried about carbs

No need to be worried about carbs tbh. I rebuilt a set of PD41As, with no prior mechanical experience by following youtube vids and forum posts. You'll need a good carb rebuild kit to replace gaskets, o-rings etc. Only buy jets from JetsRUs, everything else is cheap crap that isn't manufactured...

    Cafe racer project question!

I see you have a SOHC with pods - what jetting/ needle setup are you using, and how does it perform? Cheers
