Has anyone out there repaired a snapped clutch lifter plate by welding the snapped section off? I have just done this - it seems strong and level but not sure if it will last??

My manual says 15ft/lbs so its 'correct' then - I felt this was very low? I guess its ok then. They seemed a lot tighter coming off - the engine has never been stripped down before
