I just rebuilt the carbs. I bought a tank from eBay and lined and painted it. I put a new battery on it and it goes dead...
Thanks for the help. I am really irritated because the bike was soo well kept and never rode but I am coming to see that a bike sitting forever is much harder on it than riding it every day. I got stranded on the side of the road yesterday. When I got the bike home, I turned the key on and it...
82 750 nighthawk with 4,500 miles on it. It hasn't been tagged since 03. I've put 2 batteries on it. One just kept going dead. I checked the rotor and it's sitting on 5.2 ohms. The stator tested fine but they both looked rusty. I cleaned them up. I've only rode this bike 10 miles since I got it...
I ordered the rear shocks for my bike from vintagecb750 and they look and feel great. Now comes the fun part.. my front suspension is killed. I sit on the bike and there is maybe 2" left of the fork tubes. I haven't done a set of forks since my dirt bike years ago. Would re-springing be the best...
I have a 82 honda cb 750 nighthawk. The metallic blue is a nice color. I have a new tank and want it to match. Where can I get paint to match so I don't end up with a black tank. Could I use the paint code? I wouldn't know where to find it.
I found the issue. The old metal strip fuse on the solenoid was too rusted to actually blow. So it started melting the plug. After putting a new solenoid on and blowing a couple fuses, I realized that the plug on the harness had melted and the two red wires were touching. So I put a new clip on...
82 cb750sc Nighthawk.. I was trying to get my tail lights working and saw smoking after replacing the old round fuses. Now every time I try to hook up the battery, the fuse blows at the solenoid. All I have done is put new fuses in the fuse box and put a brake master cylinder on it. Maybe I have...
I had the gas leak problem when I rebuilt mine because I used the old floats. The sides were wore where they are plastic and not metal and adjustable. Bought new floats and that fixed the leaks. If you get a chance, send me a picture of your carbs if you can get a decent angle of the bottom.
My bike had sat for 20 years, I'm a mechanic by trade so I couldn't let just anyone work on the bike. I rebuilt the carbs, changes the plugs, bought a battery and it started right up. For $30 on Amazon you can get a carb rebuild kit. New jets, new pilot screws, everything. And synching the carbs...
So I have a nighthawk and see very little on here about these. It has sit for 29 years and I got it running. But I'm looking for rear shocks and maybe a different front suspension. Does anyone know the rear shock specs and will parts interchange between this model and the s/f/k bikes?
I have a '82 750 nighthawk The gas tank was rusted and the previous owner tried to line it and it didn't go well. I tried to get it sandblasted and it exposed a ton of pinholes. Where could I find a tank? I haven't found any online. I'm pretty sure nothing will interchange. How would I even go...
