Hello,

I recently picked up these two projects.

CB750k, 3700miles. Will be a project to bring up on road. It's very clean except the gas tank which would use new paint job. It came with original purchase receipt and warranty paperwork!! My intention is to keep it in original condition and get it fully running.

CB900C, working on it right now to get it back on the road. Wasn't running when I picked it up. I believe it's a accelerator pump issue.

One of the most important things you can do is to run the valves on both immediately. Nobody ever sets them (because they use shims and need a tool to do it) and what brings most of the engines down. Use .004"-.006" instead of the service manual .002"-.004" and they last even longer. Trust me on that, .002" of any measurement you get is NOT real once the engine is running and why you have to clearance extra for it. Any setting you get at .002" is 'acceptable' according to the manual but can and WILL burn valves, BTDT.

The problem then made most think the carbs are in error and being the complicated ones they are without you going there first it only gets worse.

A compression check tells the tale of the valves, looking for 170 psi but most can't go there. 130 and up with higher being better of course.

Welcome to the forum!! Nice projects! Those 900 cams from what I heard are a drop in replacement in the 750 of the same year range. The 900 will likely be heavier. Does it have that 10 speed transmission? If so, then it's definitely a heavy cruiser. The 750 screams and has great power to weight ratio for it's year. Besides, shaft drives lose so many "cool points"
