Hi does anyone know how to remove / re install outer clutch basket on 81 750 . I pulled the motor apart a year or so ago, I’m pretty sure I split the crank case with the basket in place. I have re assembled the cases and didn’t fit the outer clutch basket I’m thinking either knock out the bearings to give some room to slip over the primary shaft gear or remove the primary gear and try to line up the two gears to let it fit on.

Cheers in advance

There is no need to do any of that, the outer goes right on the primary gear with cases still together.

The split primary gear just needs to be turned to where both the thick and thin gear are in line as to the teeth, the basket then goes easily over it. You can actually use a fine slot screwdriver placed into the teeth to line those gears up, the outer is simply spring loaded and WILL rotate with a bit of coercion.
