I am ready to rebuild my 81 Honda CB 750 K forks,.,When I disassembled the forks ,. I found 2 snap rings and 1 octagon shaped ring in 1 of the forks,.,When I ordered the kit they came with 2 snap rings and 2 octagon shaped rings ,.Did some models use snap rings and some use octagon shaped rings,.?

They all use a snap ring in each side to hold parts in place. The octagon is a support spacer and used one to a side too.

Part 5 or 6 in that diagram, you'll have to decide which spot fits your situation best, it appears that Honda changed the position of it to be above or below the actual fork seal. I put them on top of the seal. You'll need to check the configuration of the fork tube right at where it and the seal go to determine any interference there, you don't want that, the seal just uses it to take up space and hold seal down to not flop up and down in looseness.
