Hi, I don’t know much about how my bike functions but we had a flood recently in Hong Kong and the mechanic didn’t want to touch it so I started tinkering which is dangerous since I know very little about bikes - anyway i muddled through through checking plugs and water in cylinders, found and and removed soggy air filter, checked pipes/hoses, exhausts and in the end had to remove and clean carb (thanks to you tube) which worked! - finally running but I removed this box (see following photo) I don’t know what it is and if I’m supposed to open it but I did and found a lot of gunk and some water - now I’ve silicones it back together and will put some duct tape around d for temp fix - can anyone tell me what the box is for, I couldn’t find it on the pdf Honda manual I downloaded

Sorry forgot to add pictures of box to message

It's just an emissions storage box for crankcase vapors coming off the top of valve cover. Why all the glop is inside it.

Thanks for giving me some feedback. I eventually took the carb off, took apart and cleaned it and got the bike running but e en after the initial smoke clearing crap out of the exhaust etc she just didn’t idle properly, backfired and didn’t run well. I managed to drive her to a mechanic and he suggested I dump her because the engine sounded weird and he suspected there was water inside - I’ve decided that’s as far as I want to go down that road I learned a lot and was happy managed to get her started but more time spend on her just meant I could be doing other things like making a skateboard ramp so RIP and thanks for all those wonderful rides!
