Could use some advice for my '80 cb750F. I'm getting a strong smell of gas at idle, but the plugs look fine. The electrode is clean with a little bit of light gray on the insulator. It almost looks a little on the lean side. Carbs, jetting and air cleaner are all stock. Pipe is a four-into-one V&H.

Smell suggest flooding or fouled plug pumping out raw fuel. Whether the engine is hitting on all four evenly comes into that. The engines can stick needle valves to flood very easy if you let them sit with ethanol laced fuel in them for a couple days or longer.

Mixture screws not close to even or out more than 2 turns can do it too.

If a plug was fouled or raw fuel was going through, wouldn't the plug or plugs show it. Wouldn't the plug be black, and or wet?
