I was just replacing the oil filter on my cb750FB 1981, and looking at service manual to make sure I was put the spring and washer in the correct order, when i noticed that i have a disc that covers the end of the oil filter and sits in the filter housing??.

I have looked in the service manual and online cmsl parts list etc, and I cant see it in any reference to the disc.
is this correct.

i will post a pic tomorrow.

cheers

all i can think it is for is to hold the filter in place, any thoughts as service manual dose not show it.

The disk is left-over part of an old filter - toss it. Sequence for assembly is bolt (with new o-ring and a film of new oil) through cover (with new o-ring lightly coated with new oil), then spring, washer, filter.
