I'm in desperate need. In taking my motor on the frame of a 1979 F series. I broke where the tachometer cable connects to the valve cover. Any wisdom is greatly appreciated. Is this a fixable part or is it apart of the block? Can I just seal it off and screw the tachometer?

It doesn't connect to the valve cover, it connects to one of the cam journal caps. You'll need to replace that cap to fix it.

You could just seal it up but be really careful as it would be very easy to push the sealant too far into the hole and into the cam journal.

Thanks Dave,

I ended up having to buy another head just to take that part off. $200 mistake, but fixable. Having a spare head can't hurt. Thanks for the reply and picture.
